I've got a Comcast DTA box hooked up to my HTPC right now. My receiver gets signals from the box's remote. But sending a test signal does nothing to the DTA. I have a Hauppauge blaster and an HP blaster. Neither one works.

Thoughts? The thing is right up against the face of the box.

I was having problems like this with my multi tuners and the blaster. I read somewhere that it should be plugged into the tuner that is the top one (closest to the CPU of the motherboard). I think I needed to reboot after the move and then it worked.

This blaster comes out of the IR receiver unit which is USB'd into the PC.

What do you have your capture source channel changer set to?

what program are you using to blast? HIP?
those codes are tricky to learn, as they are a new standard..not strictly RC6..
but some have had luck learning them with MCE dongles, it's so close to rc6..
but HP's dongles are weird..[MS used Phillips hw]
is that the one with only one good blaster port? it may not have the bandwidth necessary..
somewhere out there are the factory preset codes [.ccf] that can be converted into blastable codes...but i don't have one so can't test..

Port 2 of the HP MCE blaster worked for me (but not port 1) using HIP and Net2HIPsend on a Comcast DTA. HIP learned the codes no problem. If the bud doesn't flash red when blasting, it's not doing anything.

Both of the receivers have dud port 1s. Don't know why.

DTA and channel in are channel 4, I can see the signal from the DTA in PVRX2, so that's working.

I'm using HIP (and later will use HipNet2send). Hip sees the button press from the DTA remote... but gets different values. Or should I say, sometimes it gets more of a value. The string that comes in usually starts the same... but sometimes is longer.

I think the signal repeats... but haven't parsed out the pattern yet. Figures... comcast has to make things difficult.

Okay, so here's where I stand. I can get my universal remote to learn the commands, but I can't get HIP to learn the commands. I'm just trying up and down. I have tried both the Hauppauge receiver and the HP receiver. It senses a signal, but a different one each time. Please help.

You have to confirm each individual learned channel changes the channel correctly from within HIP (test). My problems happened because I had several channels which did not learn correctly. This produced seemingly random channel changes. Also, I noticed that sometimes the first digit was missed, so for instance 36 changed to 6. I found that zero padding and triple digits helped with the missed first digit problem.

Yes... I'm testing in HIP. I Learn the IR, then Test the IR. Single remote key presses will show up on screen from the DTA box. (I've used other Set Top Boxes, so I understand how HIP works.)

The problem is... If I learn a key (for instance, zero (0)) then learn it again, I see two different codes captured by HIP.

Either HIP or the MCE IR receiver is not reading the remote correctly, there for, I do not have a valid code going out when it blasts. (The red light on the blaster is flashing, so it is sending something.)
