Hi,

I used the following guide to install the current version of GB-PVR, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43362.

The application looks very nice and userfriendly, thank you for the good work.

I am using an HP pavilion s7721.sc, spec uploaded, which is running Vista and a Pinnacle hybrid stick 330e.
Core Duo T2060 (Y) 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM, GeForce 7500LE.

The plan is to have the bundled WMCE remote and IR transmitter installed, later.

I live in Denmark but Denmark is not present in the list so I have tried with Germany and Sweden both with no MPEG4 / H.264 decoding, the channels are detected but the picture never appears.

It installs ok but I can not watch any channels on mux2 (I understand they are MPEG4 H.264 coded, but I can watch all channels on mux1 which are MPEG2 as I understand it.

I have NO experience with GB-PVR besides the installation yesterday.

Is there some kind of plugin or codec I am missing and if so, how can I Get and install that ?

Another issue is that I tried to setup a scheduled recording via EPG, first a program which was half through at the time I scheduled the recording, it did not start.
Second I schedule another program to record via EPG which was to start in 10 min, it did not start either, any suggestions to solve this ?

I uploaded my logs, at least what i hope is my logs, I appreciate any help.

Thanks Peter

You are missing h.264 decoder. Try *unlocked* SAF, link below.

BTW, your GPU lack DXVA decoding and 1.6 GHz CPU is to slow to decode HD video, you can have problems with that.

Thanks, I will try that tonight, I know the CPU power might not be enough but I wanted to try it anyway.

As I understood it is running on atom boards and I believe they have less power, I want to get a feeling of what is required for it to run smoothly.

I already tested MythBuntu 9.10 which should be working "out of the box" but it did not, so I decided to stick to Windows as I have no knowledge when it comes to Linux.
I also wanted to checkout Linux MCE but I guess it is the same as with Mythbuntu, it does not work "out of the box".

Does anyone know any tricks to get H.264 decoding in WIN XP MCE or Vista MCE ?

Tricks? All you need is good GPU and DXVA decoder Smile

Win7 have build in DXVA decoder for MPEG-2/h.264.

Thanks Hoborg,

so basically, by purchasing a new graphics adaptor I can use this PC for the DVB-T recording and playback ?

What kind of adaptor is required as a minimum, I consider 2 scenarios:

1) Recording and playback does not need to be done at the same time ?

2) Recording and playback must be available at the same time ?

If I go for a better GPU what kind of processor is then required for it to run ok ?

With the current GPU what kind of processor is required ?

Too many possibilities...

Here are my tips:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240e
GPU: ATI 5450

This hardware will give power you need to play all media.
Cheap, low power, passive cooling,...

Recording uses very little computer resource.

It is all about playback of the recordings and playback is all about the graphics hardware and the decoder and whether the hardware and the decoder work together to give acceleration.

Is a core duo too slow for HD? (see my sig; works fine) and how about an 8400GS-based video card? ~$30US

Yeah, you'd probably be ok by adding a nvidia 8500/8600 or higher video card. These support hardware acceleration of H.264 decoding.
