Hi, everything seems to go OK BUT (isnt there always) I get no signal on a set of channels which I believe are on 633Mhz. These include QVC, Five USA, GOLD, ITV3, Virgin1. Live TV says no signal detected.

All channels can be received on exactly the same antenna (external) AND same wire and same plug (TV sat on computer workstation. I am line of sight from transmitter and its only 5 miles away.

Can anyone suggest what may be the problem. Is it the TV tuner card?? This is exactly the same under Windows Media Center.

Any thoughts on what to try etc. Be aware I am not a techie nowadays just an end user!!

Cheers

Have a look here : http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=TQ339712 at your transmitter, you'll probably find all those channels are on the same mux, and maybee that is a lower power mux. If so an aerial upgrade is the way forward.

Have you checked the reception with the software that cam with the tuner?

Sorry mis-read your post I thought you had an indoor aerial, check the native application for reception.

Sorry to ask dumb questions, but it never stopped me before!! Whats the "native application"??
Incidentally the GB-PVR tuner indicates no signal quality and no signal strength.

For the Hauppauge card the native application will be Hauppauges WinTV, normally you should have a CD with the TV tuner card with it on.

You can also try this utility fro Hauppauge to check signal strength and quality:

Progress (?) report

Aerial has been fully checked and is as good as it gets.

Neither the GB-PVR or the Media Center TV tuners actually receive anything at all on the 633Mhz band however they both recognise the presence of the channels (just wont/cant receive them).

It seems to me that either the HVR-1200 card is somehow faulty on this one band OR and probably more likely something is stopping the TV tuners recognising the signals from the card and/or failing to decode them correctly.

ALL channels receive perfectly on a Digital TV from the same aerial.

Any more thoughts, anyone?

Did you try that ScanChannelsBDA tool mentioned in the link above? It'll give us an indication of whether you get a poor signal on that frequency.

Does the Hauppauge WinTV software show you these missing channels?

A random thought ...

When you select a transmitter in Config, GBPVR reads a .INI file from the BDA/DVB-T folder in the devnz/gbpvr folder in Program Files. Search using "word in the file" for your transmitter and check that the .INI file has the correct frequencies.

Edit: just for fun ... the forum is telling me that I posted the above at a time that is fifteen minutes in the future ... Is GBPVR really that good or is the sever time set wrong?

I've noticed the server time slowly drifting further ahead over the last couple of months. I've corrected the time now.
