Dear all,

one of these I've never had to do before, the answer to other one has always bugged me, did try searching 1st! Running on XP.

My system was getting a bit clogged up with all sorts of stuff so after backing up config, etc used an Acronis image of perfect working system from a few months back to give lovely clean install I had done at that time with GBPVR 1.4.7.

1) Try to put old gbpvr.db3 into GBPVR folder but of course cannot replace as it is in use by another process. Is easiest solution to boot into safe mode and replace this way?

2) I have manually edited scan cache files for my DVB-S that I like to use and are easy to keep updated. However even with clean database I put my 'clean' scan cache files in BDA folder open device to map to channels and apart from my 'clean' channels there is a whole list of other channels that the device has previously mapped to. Where are these coming from? How is GBPVR remembering them? I'm sure some time ago I looked in the database and there is no mention of previous entries in any tables. I really would like to get rid of these it would make a re-install about 500% faster Smile

Any help appreciated particularly on point 2.

Cheers

Steeb

Comment on point 1 - I think you just need to stop the recording service and possibly close the tray app.

Point 2 ... I'm pretty sure that the list of channels on the right side of Map Channels in Config is a mix of what's in source_channel_mapping in the database plus the content of the scan cache file.

You should be able to get rid of the values from the database by removing and re-adding the capture source.

Edit: Close config after the remove and before the re-add.

Hi Graham,

I should have been more clear, this isn't the list on the right side, if I open with my new 'clean' scan cache the ONLY channels I see are the ones I have put in scan cache but when I drop list on left side to map I have a long long list of previous mappings, which makes it very hard to find the ones I want, i.e. there could be 3 entries for Channel 4, 2 x old ones and my new one. I have got around this by adding something like (new) at the end of my new entry in the scan cache which makes it easier to find but is still very tedious. So much easier if there was just my new entry for Channel 4. Having said that you think this resides in database somewhere and I have missed it? Am sure in the past I have removed the capture source closed config and re-opened and these old mappings are still there but will attempt again as am sure you are right and I am just thick :p

Cheers

I have never figured out exactly what's going on during the mapping process ... I get where I want by trial and error. My advice ... look at content of source_channel_mapping table, remove source, restart config, re-add souce, loook again at table.

ISTR that the list on the right is from the cache file and the list on the left in the drop down boxes includes the cache file and any previously used mappings.

(I'm hoping that mapping is one area that sub is tweaking in the new version)

Whhhooooooaaaaaa genius :pSmileBig Grin

This has literally been bugging me for years!

Opened db3 and removed ALL entries in source_channel_mapping.

Removed devices from config then closed. Replaced old db3 with newly edited.

Opened config, of course devices still appeared as hadn't removed them from db3 (guess if I had then could skip next step).

Removed devices again, close and restart config. Devices gone, add device, go to channel mapping start scan and immediately stop to create 'empty' scan cache so I knew what number it was going to call itself. Close config, replace empty scan cache with my edited one. Open config, edit device, map channels drop down list ONLY showing my edited list. Huzzah. Of course still have to map channels manually BUT now I know Channel 4 etc is the one that works and don't have to search for the right one out of 3 or 4.

Jumping for joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes and this was causing the problem

Yes suspect so after all the posts about mapping. Of course just my luck after sorting this after 3 years of annoyance that Sub will completely fix this in 1.5 but for now a very happy bunny Cool

Thanks everyone for helping me suss this.

All the best
