Over the last week or so I've been tidying up after a fresh install of Windows 7 to replace XP on my server. Just about the only remaining issue I've now got is that live TV on my man cave pc (also win7 but x64) will only give about 15 seconds before it throws me out to the main menu. If I pause in those 15 seconds and let the buffer build up a bit it seems more reliable. The logs don't tell me a lot:
Code:
2010-03-15 06:46:14.724    VERBOSE    [7]    Received request to stop livetv: 4

then:
Code:
2010-03-15 06:46:14.734    VERBOSE    BDARecorder::StopRecording()

I'm pretty sure the shares on the server are ok, as I can create new files in them from the client. Where do I go from here, perhaps antivirus?

I've attached the server logs....is there any benefit in also uploading the client logs?

I need help gents....
Just an update, still struggling with this. I tried removing my switch from the network so all machines are plugged into my router but no joy.
I'm pretty sure the issue is server side because before I moved the server to win7 the client was working on win7 with server on xp. Ive tried disabling the windows firewall...Not sure where go from here.....

Can you reproduce the problem and post the client logs too?

I have attached 2 sets of logs, Client_Server_logs_6_22am.7z contains both sets of logs with a live tv attempt at 6:22am today.

I noticed that the client logs were almost empty so I set it to debug and re-attempted live tv, no server logs included this time.

The client is dual boot, win7 32 and 64, both are exhibiting the same behaviour which started when the server switched to windows 7 ilo XP.

I had the same problem on an XP client of a win7 server last night and discovered that if I disable the screen saver in the config on the client the problem went away.... Now I have the problem that I get audio on some channels and not on others, despite them all being the same kind of video/audio... Channel 5 (UK DVB-S) played perfectly over my wifi but any BBC stutters a bit and gives no audio at all.

On the screensaver front...when the problem occurs to me normally the pc has not been standing long enough for the screensaver to kick in...is that also the case for you?

For your audio issues have you looked at the graphs that have been built on the a working channel relative to a non working. Also perhaps its picking up the wrong audio stream?

I'm fairly sure the PC hadn't been standing long enough for the screen saver to kick in. I noticed something in the logs about the screen saver just before it stopped playback so disabled it for a laugh and was able to watch the football on 5 for ages. I'll try and dig out the client logs this evening to see what it was that made me try this.

I've not tried building graphs for these but will do so. I just wonder if my G wifi network is maxed out and 5 happens to have a lower bitrate than BBC/ITV channels where I get worse stuttering and no audio. Time to buy an N router maybe...

I'd start by increasing the live tv pre-play delay setting on the client. Its currently 400ms. Start with a big number like 2500 to see if it helps.

I'll give it a go, pretty sure I've tried it but I was never really sure if this setting was on the server or the client config.
So maybe I upped the server wrongly.

Subs suggestion worked, increasing to 650 msec did the trick. I guess the combination of win7 server and client needs a bit more time to get going.
I actually feel pretty stupid posting this now.
