Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how I will set my SchedulesDirect lineups for the best result in GB-PVR, and lowest load on SD servers.

I noticed the default EPG download days in GB-PVR is only 4 days. My Mythbox downloads up to 14 days if the EPG is empty, and if it is already full, it downloads only tomorrow (to catch last minute changes) and the 14th day from now, to reduce the load on the SD servers. Does GB-PVR do this also? If not, and it is downloading the whole schedule every day, should I consider doing fewer days than 14, hopefully at least 7?

Does GB-PVR download a lineup you are using on more than one capture device only once from SD, then copy the lineup locally into each capture device? Or does it download the lineup separately for each capture device no matter what? Since I have a HVR-2250, I will have 4 capture devices - 2 digital tuners and 2 analog tuners. I was hoping to reuse the analog lineup, which is almost the same as the digital lineup, to prevent the SD servers from getting hit 4 times, versus only once.

Thanks for any advice on this.
For parents - support GB-PVR on Dell Dimension E521 with Win 7 32bit, AMD X2 3600+, Nvidia GeForce 6150LE, 3gb RAM, HVR-2250, Egreat M34a. Personally running a MythTV rig with PVR-150 and HVR-1250.

Even if you've got multiple capture sources using Schedules Direct, it'll only download the EPG once. It'll also request the server gzip it to cut down on the about of data passed across the network.

We used to have a scheme like this, but to be honest, it wasnt worth the added hassle, so the feature was eventually dropped. If you want 14 days, just set it to 14 days.

Schedules Direct's free predecessor (zap2it free) used to have some server load issues, but that hasnt been an issue with Schedules Direct. You pay for the service and they have adequate server resources dedicated to it.

Interesting that the first and last method was a hassle. In my ignorance about the situation, I figured it was probably just 2 delete and 2 insert SQL statements. I guess if the SD guys are comfortable with this, and haven't requested a hard limit on the number of days, I'll go ahead and do 14.

The only reason it concerned me at all was SD is a non-profit organization. I figured if everyone was pulling down 14 days of data every day, and in my case pulling down 3 lineups, that they might have to buy more hardware or bandwidth, and then they might have to increase the awesome $20/yr membership fee. I guess it just really doesn't require much horsepower to send out EPGs.

Thanks for the advice.
