Is it necessary to install the Visual C++ (vcredist) from the GBPVR website, or can I install the latest version from Microsoft?

GB-PVR will look for the specific version that it was built for, so you'll most likely need the version referred to in the download post. I'm fairly sure you can have multiple versions of vcredist installed these though if you need a newer one for some reason.
