I just did an initial install of version 1.4.7 on a win7 64 bit machine. I'm using the Hauppauge 2250. I'm in Toronto Canada.

The OTA TV video looks OK, but the sound is coming out as an awful warbly screeching sound (unintelligible).

The Canadian channels during the scan have two versions: (000) and (000(AC3)). The U.S. ones seem to only be (000(AC3)), which is the sound codec, I think.

I tried both a (000) and (000(AC3)) version and they both have the sound problem.

MCE works for both audio and video (but I am trying GB-PVR because I want the network tuner feature for live TV)

Thanks for any help.

You will need to install AC3filter or ffdshow to decode ac3 audio. OTA digital ATSC and QAM in Canada and the US is AC3, but I've found the (090) stream sounds better on QAM. I have never seen this extra stream with ATSC OTA. Once you install the ac3 audio decoder choose one and then the other.

Thank you, mvallevand

I installed first AC3filter, and then ffdshow and rebooted . In the Config utility on the playback tab, I selected first AC3filter, and then ffdshow for the AC3 decoder for MPED-2 playback.

I still do not get the proper sound.

This was a test with live TV. Does the playback tab affect live TV, or do I need to also set the AC3 decoder somewhere else for live TV? I did some searching on this issue and I found people complaining about both AC3filter and ffdshow on Windows 7 machines. I am running 64 bot Windows 7. Does that make a difference?

The sound seems to work on recorded TV - just not in live TV

Can you start live TV, let it play for a minute and then play a recording for a minute and then zip and post your pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log?
