Hi all,
I have a remote PC (XP Pro) which I use by RDP. It has an Hauppauge PVR 350 + Hauppage software installed and GB-PVR. There is a grabber which collect data from a Dutch TV guide.
On my desktop PC I have GB-PVR installed as a client. I can see the TV guide, no problem there. But there is no live TV. Somehow it looks like the channels of GB-PVR don't match the channels of Hauppauge WinTV2000. With RDP I can use WinTV2000 on the remote machine, it works well. I have all the channels installed by automatic search.
How can I make the local client GB-PVR show live TV?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind regards,
Fokke Nauta

You haven't really given enough info about your configuration, but here are a couple of things I can think of to possibly point you in the right direction:

In client-server mode, LiveTV works by starting a timeshift buffer, and then reading that buffer over the network.

1. You must not use the DVR-MS mux on the server; it can't provide live tv to a client (nor can a client watch a recording in progress with DVR-MS)
2. For the TS Mux you should setup your client in File Sharing mode, not Streaming
3. You need the appropriate video and autdio decoders on the client, just as you do on the server.
4. You may need to increase the LiveTV Pre-Delay setting on the client. Try 4000ms as a starting point, if you get it working you can reduce it.

One common problem of everything working except Live TV is a firewall getting in the way.

Thanks.
What information do you need?

On the server the BDA mpxer = Full TS. Client is in filesharing mode. Pre-Delay is now 4000 ms. On the server site I can watch TV with Hauppauge WinTV2000 (via RDP). On the client side I can watch recorded TV films (mpeg). So I think video and audio decoders are OK.
With the 1st attempt to watch Live TV on the client there is always a very short error message which appears to short to read. I think that the client can't find the TV channels or there is a misconfiguration.

To martint123

Firewall on the local machine has been disabled. The remote machine has no firewall. Didn't make a difference.

You don't need or want to be using Full-TS. Change it to TS mux, also increase the pre-play delay to 10 seconds or similar just to make sure.

Can you confirm that everything is working fine with GBPVR on the server - correct channels and live TV OK?
Then posting a full set of logs from client and server with a note of the date/time you tried to watch live TV will help.

You need to make sure you can watch live tv in timeshift mode and record shows directly on the server first, before trying to use a client. Testing with WinTV2000 is irrelevant.

I've read many posts from Sheik Yerbouti telling NL users that extra setup is required for analog (PVR 350) tuner. The mux is irrelevant to analog, and I doubt you need 10 second delay for analog. Like the others of written get it working on the host server first, noting that it is not officially supported for output anymore.

Finally I might be misunderstanding, but could you be attempting RDP client connections and not GBPVR client connections? That might not be supported on XP at all.

Yes, of course, sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the type of tuner mentioned. I've never used anything but digitial, and often forget there's analog too. Correct, the MUX makes no difference. It should also then be possible to use Streaming Mode for the GB-PVR client, which if I recall correctly works best with Analog MPEG recordings.

Yes, Fokke Nauta, do note that GB-PVR does not support using the video output on the PVR-350 any more. You'll be doing playback via the regular video card.

RDP is coming up because the OP was trying to do that in another thread. He was steered towards using GB-PVR in client-server mode exactly because RDP won't work (at least not on XP). He is apparently still using RDP for some configuration and testing. I have pointed out that VNC is the only way to do remote configuration and testing of GB-PVR on XP.
