Im having issues with DVB EPG updates .. Im getting multiple entries for individual programs, that overlap - A LOT. So for example, I might get Ch 7 with a show running 1900 -2030. Then another entry in the guide with the same show running 1935 - 2030.. and so on.. The problem gets worse with the days updating.. Its affecting most, but not all channels, and only DVB EPG data. Any ideas? The aesthetics are horrific , sub would cry..

XMLTV updates (fm oztivo) are working fine - and Ive swung most channels back to this now for reliability, but I do like the seemingly more comprehensive data fm the stations.
Im in Adelaide, South Australia BTW.

Have you tried the "Empty EPG" button before you Update?

Yes this will work for a manual update, but for a the daily time-scheduled update , this wont work.. GBPVR had this as a processing option too, to clear the EPG for scheduled update.. This issue is that it only occurs when doing dvb sourced updates.

Hi,

This appears to be a data matching problem. Some Australian TV channels have FTA EPG updates that refine the start and end times of programs as their broadcast time gets closer. The EPG update code is probably having issues matching the updates to the previous version of the data. It may be seeing these updates as separate but overlapping events.

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Ian this looks plausible.. and reflects the symptoms Im getting..
Any chance of the code being tweaked to accommodate these updates ? dont know if this exists anywhere else but I presume so.. sub

Sure. I wont be able to do it in the next couple of days, but if there is problems on this front, then I'll definitely fix it.

I and a number of others reported seeing something similar on the previous release. As the times change the system collects more an more copies of the same show in the EPG. For me this was occuring for shows that I was recording. I would end up using all my tuners to record 4 copies of the same show.

Im still getting this issue of multiple overlapped schedules in EPG where updating fm the tuner.. in 1.5.24. Its not self-cleaning when a revised time presents. Any chance of this being corrected? sub you mentioned it might be done in this release , but the prob remains . Wasnt an issue before (GBPvR) as I used xmltv, but now Ive switched, its a hassle..

Just curious, if you click the 'update epg' button in the Settings/Channels screen, does the problem correct itself?

Hi Sub,

I just tested this for you by selecting Update EPG from the Channels window on a machine that has a populated, but flawed, EPG. (The flaw being duplicated program entries.) When the update process completed the duplicates were still present. In fact, I think some entries gained another duplicate!

Is there a file (or files) I can post for you to examine the problem?

Regards,
Ian.
