Recently got a cheap MCE remote from eBay and want to setup my logitech harmony 555 remote to control npvr. Obviously my no name far east remote isn't listed in the logitech database. Sad

Can anyone help and name a few makes and models of MCE remotes that are proven to work with npvr?

Thanks muchly. Darrell.

Been a while since I used a Harmony but I believe it's under the following:

Device Type: Computer
Device: Media Center PC
Manufacturer: Microsoft
Product Model: Windows Media Center

Edit: There is actually a profile for GBPVR but I don't know how complete it is.

Device Type: Computer
Device: Computer
Manufacturer: GB-PVR
Product Model: 0.93

See if there is a profile for an Adaptec AVC-3610. It's a dual tuner USB but has a pretty standard MCE remote with it.

Thanks guys, but unfortunately tried both of those settings and beither works. Maybe my cheap hong kong bay remote wasn't such a good deal after all? Although to be fair the remote works fine, just can't get logitech harmony to replicate it from it's database.

Tried also running through the logitech learning program and it didn't recognise it either. So I guess plan c1 is to go through and lean each key individually or plan c2 is buy another cheap remote from eBay and see if logitech recognizes it.

Back to the drawing board.
Darrell.

I had the same problem with my XSight Touch but I use Intelliremote ($24) to remap the codes. The XSight apparently did learn a code from the MCE remote but the PC would not seem to recognise it. Intelliremote fixed the issue. Any IR suite like HIP should do the same.

I just got my 2nd cheap one. What's the model number on the back? Mine is a VRC-1100, turns out that is already in the Harmony Database under ORtek VRC-1100. At the very least you might want to give that one a try.
