Hi folks
Probably not the best place to post this but I just brought a new I5 PC.
I brought a hauppage 2200 but then found out I don't have any pci-X slots. Damn!!!!
Anyway got my money back for the hauppage.
Now the problem. Can any one suggest the next best dual digital capture card for NPVR?
I have a pci slot and another pciEX (another graphics card slot).
Any help appreciated.
Running windows7 64bit

I'm fairly sure you can put a PCI Express x1 card, like HVR-2200, into a PCI Express x16 slot on your motherboard.

Unfortunately there isnt a lot of good options for modern dual tuner cards in older PCI slot.

Hi sub
here is the motherboard
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/prod...s_id=43293
The graphics card is in the pciex16 and the pciex4 is avail. Are you saying if I swap the graphics card to the pciex4 slot the hauppauge will fit in the pciex16(Even though the card slot is way bigger)

While that would probably work, there's no reason to do that. You should just put the hauppauge card in the pciex4 slot.

dave.t, the PCIe x1-16 Slots are compatible. This means: You can plug a x1 Card into a x4, x8 or often even into the x16 PEG Slot (if the mainboard manufacture didn't made bullshit in the bios). Even PCI Express 1.0, 2.0 and 2.1 are compatible each other. You can think about the PCIe Slots like a highway: The x1 Slot has 1 lane, the x4 Slot has 4 lanes, the x8 Slot has 8 lanes... and each lane allows xxx MiB/s transfer (depending on the PCIe Revision).

PS: PCI-X has absolutely nothing to do with PCI Express!

Yepp. And in his mainboard are 2 PCIe x16 Slots, but one of them has only 4 lanes.

Big GrinBig GrinThanks Guys!
I went back to the shop and picked the card backup and plugged it into the pciex4 slot and it worked.
The only problem I had is that I could not load the wintv7. I down loaded it and it asks to put the original cd in but it fails to pick it up. The cd is hauppauge win tv version 3.4 for xp and vista. I think its to old. but NVPVR picked up all my channels so I will be playing with that a bit later.
thanks again

I've recently downloaded the latest version software from the Hauppauge Singapore web site and put it on to a clean computer Windows 7, and during installation it required me to put my original CD into the drive, after which it continued to install OK.
