I'm looking for a new build for a client PC for our bedroom. It's been a while since i've looked into MB's and such since I built my main machine in the living room somewhere around 5 years ago. What i'm looking for is a cheap solution that has onboard video good enought to play OTA 1080i broadcast here in the US smoothly. It'll be hooked up to a standard tv so a 'tv out' svideo port might be required unless theres another way to convert the video with adapters.

Once sub releases the official npvr i'll be upgrading to windows 7 on both the main and client pc's.
I'm going to start researching it myself but thought I would ask here in case others have looked into it more recently. Thanks.

very few onboard video solutions have svideo...likely easier having a video card as they are dime/dozen w/svideo and component outs..
i do know the intel onboard g45 with an add2 board would do it...just hard to find the add2 board to get the svideo outs and it costs as much or more than a whole video card..
i'd say a ati hd3450 or better would be cheap...just make sure to get one with the little round plug instead of hdmi on it so you'll have built-in svideo...
you can always add an adapter later [10$] to make the dvi on it do hdmi with audio when you upgrade tv..Smile

so *only* the ones with svideo plug onboard can do all 6 connections[svideo, composite, component, dvi, vga, and hdmi w/audio]
ones with hdmi built-in don't have svideo plug so only can do dvi, vga, and hdmi...
[btw, the little round svideo plug uses adapters to do composite and component also..they don' t always come with them, tho some do..]

Too bad about that svideo requirement. I'm using a refurb Revo 1600 (Atom single core CPU, ION graphics, $170) as my client and it works great. But only VGA and HDMI.

I thought I would just throw the NMT into the ring for you to think about as I have found mine (a PCH A-100(referb) & an EGreat M34a) to be totally brilliant & with all the work that Martin & sub have done they are now very close to PnP to get them working, they have all the different video out connections on the back & will display 1080i & 1080p without a problem are totally silent if you don't fit a HDD & for GB-PVR/NPVR integration you don't need one, are small & at the moment you can get refurbished PCH A110 units for US$105 + shipping from this link http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/i...urbished_1
