Hi,

In N-PVR 1.5.24 is it possible to define the display format for the date and time? Basically, is there a list of time and date formats for the various time and date strings used through the UI?

I would like times displayed in 24 hour format. For example, 04:30 or 21:45. I would like the long date displayed in ddd d mmmm yyyy format and short dates displayed in ddd d-mmm-yyyy format. For example, long date Fri 9 July 2010 and short date Fri 9-Jul-2010.

I tried modifying the Windows display formats in the Control Panel but they don't appear to apply to N-PVR.

Regards,
Ian.

There is windows registry settings that can be used to control the default date and time formats used by .net. I cant remember the exact details. There was some discussion about it a long time relating to GBPVR, and if you do a search you should find that discussion.

Hi,

Sorry but after a couple of hours searching I can find anything that sorts this out for me. I found references to adding "<Culture>en-GB</Culture>" to Config.xml but this doesn't appear to be working for me. The Windows time and dates have been changed in the Control Panel but these changes don't get reflected in N-PVR.

Could someone please provide some step by step instructions for customising the time and date displays in N-PVR?

Regards,
Ian.

This is because .net uses the machine date/time settings rather than those associated with your user account.

Hi Sub,

Would you please consider allowing some N-PVR configuration setting strings that define the time and date templates that .NET will use within N-PVR. This will allow users to quickly and easily set N-PVR to work the way they want without needing to change the default .NET behaviour. You may care to do this by creating a time format string, a main menu (or long format) date format string, an EPG (or short format) date format string and any other generic formats strings as required.

If you allow the format string parameters as per http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8kb3ddd4.aspx then users should be able to structure and format the date and time for any location or personal preference.

What do you think?

P.S. I would still welcome hints or instructions on how to make the registry changes that Sub suggested earlier. Smile

Regards,
Ian.

From memory there is a few settings in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International key (sShortDate etc).

Hi Sub,

Thank you for the pointer, unfortunately the definitions there are not being used by N-PVR.

I'm pretty sure they are, but there are certainly registry settings in that key that arent used, so you maybe trying the wrong registry settings.

Hi Sub,

I have adjusted the settings for the current user and the all users areas of the registry. I have rebooted the PC but I have still had *no* impact on the date or time display in N-PVR.

Would you *please* consider bringing the configuration of the date and time strings into the N-PVR settings screen.

Regards,
Ian.

I cant help you at this stage with changing the format of all the dates shown in the application. Too much effort to go back and redo it. I can supply a patch to help users override their machine's default culture settings though. This can be done by applying this patch, and adding <Culture>en-AU</Culture> in the <General> section of the config.xml.
