Sub, can I have an option to turn off NPVR's MCE remote support? It's nice and all that it works "out-of-the-box" with an MCE remote, but right now it's causing me a lot more problems than it solves.

Thanks.

edit: perhaps I should call this a nevermind, or at least a less-urgent thing. One problem I thought I was having turned out to be a misunderstanding on my part, or a case where something wasn't working for some other reason. I think it would still be reasonable to be able to turn off the MCE remote support in NPVR, or alternately be able to configure the translation table that converts MCE remote commands to virtual key-presses; the hard coded table in GB-PVR didn't work right for me, but so far things are actually OK in NPVR.

Install HIP. That way you can choose which apps to use the remote with (or not).

My first thought is that you don't understand my problem at all... but then my second thought is that maybe I don't understand something HIP can do?

not in win7....in win7 you have to go to control panel/default programs/set program access and computer defaults and click the down arrows on custom and under default media player, uncheck 'enable access to this device' for Windows media center...[which disables anyone's access to start it up]
or in prgrams and features in control panel click 'turn windows features on /off' on left side and you can remove media center from being installed..

IRSS has a checkbox to do it for you...but hip doesn't have anything that would help..

Thanks pBS, but no, that's not what I'm talking about. I posted my request without giving any explanation of what my issues were to avoid getting a bunch of other advice on how to solve my issues, so now I have a bunch of other advice on how to solve issues I don't even have.

Imagine that, I posted on the most helpful forum on the internet, and I got people trying to help! some nerve Wink

ok ill have a go also just to piss you off some more
hip is great but you have to use the hip driver
and yes it can do what you want lol
and when you open a different program say power dvd you control that when in focus
when you close it the focus goes back to what ever is on screen or what you open next
you can learn any code from any remote
you can program any button to do anything you like

I hope everyone does understand I'm not upset (nor pissed off), just slightly bemused.

To be a little more clear, I just want to have the option for NPVR to simply ignore MCE remote commands, and instead rely only on keypresses (which in turn are defined in the KeyMappings.XML file). GB-PVR did this if the remote type was set to "Hauppauge", which let me send the commands I wanted via EventGhost. That said, as per my edit to the original post, this isn't as much of an issue as I thought it was when I posted.

Thanks all for your attempts to help.

Yep, HIP is great, but I'havent firured out how to get my remote number-keys work as cellphone keys, ie. enter letters from the remote into SearchLite. Maybe you have a tip?

If they work as numbers they should cycle as letters 2-ABC, 3-DEF etc. If they show as numbers perhaps MCE is returning keypad numbers and you could have them mapped to standard numbers?
