Sub,

I know you have been mighty busy developing this release and some of these may be things that you simply havent had time to look at yet - so forgive me if they are - I thought I would list them just in case as they are things that I found to be really useful in GBPVR.

In the past we could use the Channel Up/Down keys to do Page Up / Page Down in the Video List screen. This no longer seems to work. It made searching through a video list much easier. At the moment we have to toggle through the list one at a time. Or did I miss something - should this still work ?

I cannot see a delete option in the Video List screen. As I use the Video List Screen to manage my videos and recordings this is sorely missed. Have we lost this feature ?

Each time I watch AVI and MKV files from the Video List Screen I need to reselect the Aspect Ratio to Auto. Can the system be setup to default to Auto ? I am using a 4:3 TV with the 4:3 setting selected under Settings >> General.

In the past we could define default pre and post padding so that we would not need to define it every time we did a recording. Can we have this back please ?

Looking at other discussion on remotes I think it may be possible to solve the Page Up / Page Down issue with an edit to the ini file for the remote. I am not sure if the loss of this feature is a result of upgrading to Win7 or upgrading to NPVR as I did both at the same time. I will see if I can work it out in the next few days.

Edit: ini file not an option for Hauppauge MCE Remote Clone. No idea yet how I am going to get Page Up and Page Down working. HIP is not an option as it does not work with Windows 7 Sad. More research required.

Edit: Sub, Can the Channel Up and Down Buttons on an MCE remote be used to do Page Up and Page Down in NPVR ? From what I have read Channel Up and Channel Down has changed in NPVR.

Bump: The loss of the delete option in Video List and having to set the Aspect Ratio manually on every video are a bit of a pain. Any chance you can squeeze these into the next release ? Smile

I asked this in another thread and sub answered that it is possible to use page up/down to browse one page at the time in the Video library list.
This created a little problem for me as I only have Channel up/down on my remote. So I simply added Page Up/down on that the buttons sends both commands - and it works.

I use LM remote Keymap to do it. In my opinion it is easier to use than HIP or Eventghost that I have tried earlier. and I do not need to replace the driver either.
There is a free version but to get the full ability (among them download uploaded IR codes) you need the "donator" version. (And I have uploaded my MCE remote version for Npvr) Smile

7ore, Many thanks. Looks like a solution. I will give it a go.

Sub,
It would be great if we could do this with a standard unmodified MCE Remote. Would it be possible to code the Pg up/down to Channel up/down in a future release so that users do not need to use a remapping tool to get an MCE remote working ? Is the MCE remote the most common remote for HTPCs now ? Does this make sense ?

You could always use HIP, then you can program your MCE remote to send whatever key presses you want, for whatever application you want too. It gives you far more control over how the remote works than just sticking with Microsoft's default implementation of it.

As he said. And the latest version of HIP does work under W7. There is no "standard" remote for NPVR/GBPVR, and for Sub to implement every variant of remotes is simply too much to ask when there are excellent tools to be found that can solve virtually every remote-related problem.

I've only every used the MCE dongle so I am not very familiar with what other remotes are out there. But if there are many then yes it would not make sense to focus on MCE.

Good news re HIP. Last I read it was not working in Windows 7 with the MCE Remote. I tried it a couple of weeks ago on W7 and it was not working. It worked very well for me before I upgraded to W7 so if its now working on W7 its probably the best choice for me. 7ores idea of programming 2 functions on the same key is a good one.

What version of HIP did you try? It's more that a couple of weeks since the W7 version came out. Have you reported any problem on the HIP-forum?

Sorry for the slow response. I've had your post sitting in a browser tab for the last few days meaning to reply.

I've modified the MCE remote support to do a page up/down on CH+/- in the next build.

The next build also has a 'delete' button in the video library.
