Hi I have a strange new problem.
Any programs that I watch Have a little clitch when watching. The Tv stop and then goes fast forward for a couple of seconds and then starts playing fine again. When I look at the tvtemp folder, I see the files only last 6.40 minutes size 313,284. Then occasionally it falls out to the menu.
Windows 7 64 bit and hauppauge 2200. running through a popcorn a100 unit.
I am sure this has only started since the last update as it has been working really well over the past few months. Thanks for any help

Creating the small chunks is normal with NPVR. I liked GBPVR and PVRx2's old method of saving based on episode name because it allowed me to save shows I was watching if I had to step away, but I guess it addresses people complaining about those few seconds between shows.

Also by the nature of these files they are no longer seekable (the beginning of the show might not even be on the disk) so if you try to navigate them that might explain why it returns to the main menu.

The lose of these two features is actually the main reason I keep debating going back to GB-PVR and it's been tough weighing these against all the potential benefits.

They are seekable. During live tv on the PC there are up to 4 of these files, by default covering a constant buffer of 20 minutes. The user can skip back 20 minutes if they want, and it'll automatically change to the appropriate file.

There are registry setting controlling how long the buffer is. 20 minutes is the default.

Sub: where can I find this setting? Sometimes I pause live-tv and gets occupied with other things, and when I finally return to my tv and resume it jumps way ahead..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR\SlipSeconds=xxxx

If not specified in the registry, the default is 1200 (decimal DWORD).

Thanks, I'll immediately increase it to 7200 Smile

sub, any downside to messing with this parameter? (aside from the obvious of going too huge and filling up the disk or setting it so small it doesn't buffer anything)

Thanks for the info.
I searched the registry for slipseconds and it did not find it. The parameter is not there. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR does not even exist.
Should I uninstall Npvr and start from scratch.
Thanks

The SlipSeconds registry setting is not there. Its only created when you want to override the default.

Quote:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR does not even exist.
On a 64 bit machine it'll be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\NPVR
