I had watched a recording and deleted it afterwards, NextPVR just stopped responding after selecting the Delete button and never returned to previous screen. I killed it and tried to delete another recording, with same result. After a bit of investigating I found that the recording service was not responding, and I had to kill it and restart it using Services.msc

I suspect there is something wrong in my database which may cause Nrecord to hang. Is there a utility to check a SQL (I guess that is what it is) database and repair broken links, delete orphan entries etc.?

Attached logs and database.

The problem is that all the links and cross references are completely dependant on the application. There is no way the database itself can know that a link is invalid or not.
So someone who knows all the associations and relationships would have to write a tool to cross check everything.

If it were me, then I'd back the database up, export recordings, empty recordings table and re import to see if that fixes things.

How does one do that? Obviously not by deleting the recordings...

With great caution Wink

Me, I use the sqlite plugin for firefox, which is a bit of a graphical interface to sqlite database. There are other command line SQL tools about (ISTR sqlitespy was popular early in gbpvr times) but these need knowledge of SQL commands whereas the graphical interface just needs the records highlighting and the delete button pressing.

then importing the earlier exported records from the settings/recording tab.

p.s. I'm no SQL guru - which is why I will repeat the "backup the database first".

Thanks, it is always a good idea to make a backup first (better safe than sorry :p).

I'd done a lot of MS-Access programming in former days, and with Access it's quite easy to trace broken links etc. So it doesn't work that way in SQL?
Anyway, I'll try the firefox plugin, would you be so kind to point me to where I can download it?

Via firefox's tools, addons - or a direct link https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5817/
