Deleting a recording leaves behind the folder name and folder.jpg?
Is this by design?

If yes, could I perhaps ask for an option delete the lot from the recordings dir?

Thanks

I think even in GBPVR if you had a folder.jpg it would not delete the folder

Ah, maybe it was because I used XRecord in GBPVR, which used the images stored in media/art.
I wonder if it is NPVR or Wizimagegrabber (run from Postprocessing.bat) is putting the file there.

Must be NPVR ...

Wizimagegrabber.xml puts it here <ImageDir>C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Media\Shows\</ImageDir>

But if it is NPVR, wonder why it is not deleted?

NPVR on its own doesn't - I've just had to put some in by hand.

Maybe wizimagegrabber is putting a folder.jpg in as well as in the other location.

Folder.jpg is not being created by NPVR, and it definitely wouldnt delete it.

It'd probably annoy most people if they watched one episode of a show, then deleted it, then when next weeks show recorded they found they needed to go and download this folder.jpg again.

you can use that dir if you name the file [showname].jpg
it picks up a file of same name as show if it's in media\shows\
and if you delete the folder.jpg in the folder then it'll delete the folder as well when empty...
so just take all the folder.jpg's and rename them to the series name and place in "c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\NPVR\Media\Shows\"
and it should work as you want...Big Grin

It wouldn't bother me at all TBH, at least in GBPVR (with XRecord) it didn't because it looked in media/art first, so the show icon was already available. Any chance of that behaviour? I have a very good media/art folder for all the shows I need, WITH the names the same as the show.

As pBS mentioned above, you can use .\Media\Shows\ for your artwork if you prefer, then there wont be any extra files in the directory to stop the app from deleting the directory. The app didnt put the folder.jpg there though - you must have used something else, or manually put it there.

For me they must get put there by SearchLite, or by NEWA responding to calls made by SearchLite (that is to say, the only way I know how to get cover art is to go to searchlite, search for the show, select it and hit "Get Cover"; I imagine there are better ways). The only advantage I can see to having the folder.jpg in the recording folder is that then the artwork also shows up when you go in through Videos..

It seems like something must transfer the artwork to the recording directory after the fact; I can get artwork for a show I haven't yet recorded, and it puts it in .\media\shows; at this point it does not also create the recording directory and put a folder.jpg there too. Later, at the moment the show starts recording the folder.jpg shows up in the recording directory. I'm not sure by what process this happens.

Case in point: I grabbed Cover art for "The Event" using SearchLite on 9/20 at 11:16pm. The modified and created timestamps of the files in .\media\shows confirms this. The folder.jpg in the recording directory has the same modify timestamp, HOWEVER the Created timestamp is 9/25 at 8:00pm, the exact moment the show began recording.

It seems like only NRecord is involved at that point; sub are you sure you don't have a line of code in there that checks the .\media\shows directory for "showname".jpg and copies it to the recording folder as folder.jpg? If not I have no idea how this file is being created.
