Hi,

I have 2off Hauppauge NOVA-HD-S2 cards, both connected to the same source (Satellite).

I've set them both up and have gone through the channels I want enabled, but I just thought, rather than do the exact same again for the 2nd input (to keep them both in sync) I would have liked a COPY function that would save me the bother.......or perhaps a "use 1st EPG enabled list".

PS. I'm a newbie, but I presume that I can view one channel whilst recording another.......that was the point of me getting the 2 identical cards.

PPS. Have come from SageTV....too many issues for my liking......love GBPVR, really simple yet slick and very pro looking. Donation heading in soon.

Ian.

I'm guessing you are using GBPVR? This is in the process of being updated to NPVR (name not fixed as yet!) which is released in beta version at present although I would have to say it is as good if not better than gbpvr at this moment.

However - with NPVR if you setup a second device that is similar to an existing one, it asks if you want to copy the EPG data ! So it is mind-reading software as well.
This copy certainly works well for my 7010x dual dvb-s and dual dvb-t card.

If you're impressed with gbpvr, I'd certainly suggest having a look at npvr - the two will run on the same machine, but care has to be take not to record using the same tuner at the same time.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I presume NPVR ver 1.5.31 is the current beta, so I installed it.

So, coming from a complete newbie to GBPVR & NPVR gotta say the NPVR interface is not nearly as slick as GBPVR. I prefer the vertical style navigation.
I also found I was getting a lot of "not responding" dialog boxes during setup (which eventually cleared if you let them). Hmmmm!
I was also getting a wierd error two at installation to do with the services I think. Eventually they cleared and it report 100% successful install.
Putting whats under thehood to one side, If I'm honest based on initial looks and basic functionality it looks to me that NPVR is the beta to GBPVR.

Regarding the copying of channels, yes I notived NPVR did exactly that with the sat card scan, however, the EPG data I could only presume the only way to turn off a particular channel from the main EPG is to go into EACH device and de-select......which is exactly what I was trying to avoid.
Ideally I suppose I want to scan the sat ONCE, then go to ONE place and select the channels I want on the main EPG.

Great work though, and certainly the best out there yet. I'll stick here a while.......:-)

Yes that's the latest

If you are referring to the MainMenu a vertical style is a skinning option & at least one of the alternative skins use this style (refer link below for other skins) if it is the other screens you prefer vertical try pressing the "Home" key on the keyboard once you enter them (or move the mouse up to the left top corner) & then try selecting the "View" button from the hidden menu & cycle through them to get to the vertical (listview) like GB-PVR has.

I find the default skin plain (to be kind to sub) & would suggest trying one of the other skins from this link http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Skin.Skin (look at the left menu for the list)

I'm not in front of my machine to confirm this, but it should be close enough......

Starting from scratch, I would scan the satellite with one tuner.
OK it to get back to the settings menu (I think this is needed to confirm the scanned data into the database???)
Back into the device you have just setup and highlight those you want rid of (normal single or block tagging with ctrl or shift) and delete the tagged ones.
Then I would setup the second tuner and say Yes to the copy question, which should use on the channel left after the delete.

If you have already setup both tuners with the automatic copy, then you could select them in the "channels" section and delete them there and they should be deleted from all tuners that got merged with that name.
