Any good renaming apps out there that can rename from an XMLTV file into SXXEXX format?

I saw this thread http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...ght=rename , but what I need is an app I can run from PostProcess.bat that can translate this field from the xmltv.xml file <episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00672318.0155</episode-num> into Season and Episode number.

I need this info in my filenames to feed into my Popcorn Hour boxes and (soon) Boxee Box.

If anyone replying to this thread is aware of a way to resolve "EP00672316.0155" into "Season 4 Episode 7" (or whatever it might be), I would also be interested in the answer. I spent a little time researching this, and since the "dd_progid" appears to be randomely generated, there doesn't seem to be a way to convert it. There doesn't appear to be a "map" or a hash available on the internet that explains how the data provider generates the episode number, or how to work backwards to find season and episode number.

I figured out that the 0155 in "EP00672316.0155" means Episode 155. In this case this is for Desperate Housewives S07E08 that airs on 11/14/2010. If you add up all the previous episodes, you will see that this is indeed Episode 155. You could map out each show you like with this info by knowing the starting Episode number of the current season, but I really don't feel like doing that. I was hoping something already existed that could for example, take this episode-num field, query TheTVDB.org and extract the season and episode number from it.

Or is there another ***free*** electronic guide I can use as an alternative to xmltv.xml?

Did you try GuidePlus? http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/GuidePlus

No, I didn't try Guide Plus.

The documentation states:

* First its a guide enhancer: it takes a schedules direct XML file (may work with other XML guides as well) and writes a new XML file with several enhancements for N/GBPVR.
* Second it is a file renamer: if shows have season/episode tags it groups those shows and renames the file of a show to include season episode info and episode title.
* Third it is a file mover: it moves series and movies into their own directories (on any location on your network) while updating the gbpvr/npvr database.

1. I don't use Schedules Direct for my guide. I use xmltv since it's free.
2. xmltv doesn't have season/episode number posted in its xml for each tv show.

Which is why I posted this question wondering if there were any other alternatives.

XMLTV is a format not EPG source. It still might work for you.

Most guide data does not have the season and episode number otherwise the renaming would be really easy. GuidePlus uses the air date and subtitle to find the episode numbers if its not there. I use XMLTV as well, it is how I get the schedules direct file. As Martin said XMLTV is really a fetcher and formatter, your real source and its quality of data plus matches with tvrage or thetvdb will determine if renaming will function.

I'm using mx2xml. Will GuidePlus be able to extract Season and Episode from the xmltv file it produces from what I suppose are the "Windows Media Center" listings?

UltraXMLTV Enhancer will also do this. I know it works for GBPVR, but I'm not sure if it works with NPVR yet.

I don't know I have only used it with schedules direct data but I don't see why not since the format will be the same. It manages with the data below so as long as it is similar.

Code:
<programme start="20091124220600 -0600" stop="20091124231000 -0600" channel="I58574.labs.zap2it.com">
