Hello

I have been using GBPVR (1.4.7) for a few months now and am, overall, very happy with it. However, every once in a while, my recording will appear on the disc as zero bytes. It happened today to all of my daily recordings. Is there a way to figure out what has gone wrong?

I have attached the logs.

Also, I have been trying to figure out how to program recurring recordings. I don't seem to have that option in my software.

Thank you

Brian

Never mind.

I solved it by removing GBPVR and re-installing Arcsoft TotalMedia.

Thanks anyway

so impatient. the logs seem to indicate your capture device wasn't delivering any data, but there's no indication why. it tried retuning and restarting the recording each time, but to no avail. the device may have just hung in some way.

enjoy totalmedia. if you come back, try NPVR/NextPVR or whatever we'll be calling it by then.

regarding the recurring recordings, when you select "record" the first option will say "Record Once" - using the left/right arrows you can select various recurring options.

I found I can get a lot of empty recordings when the disk has less than 15% space left. try delerng some files and defragging.

Perhaps I need some more disk Smile

I thought that might have been an issue. I had 36GB free on a 250GB drive, just under 15% when the 4 consecutive recordings failed. I cleared out about 200GB and defragged, but the problem did not go away. It simply would not write a recording to the disc anymore. I could watch live TV, and the status always said 'recording' when it was scheduled to, but nothing went to the disc.

Thanks for your suggestion, though.

I looked in your logs a little more, and noticed this message in the native log a few times:
Code:
2010-11-16 19:29:00.761    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: GB-PVR PSI Parser
I recall this means that you would need to run the reregisterfilters.bat.

I do also see several cases where the signal was too weak to lock. If the signal doesn't lock, you'll get a zero-byte file.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I have removed GBPVR from my system. Should I complain to my cable company about the signal being week? I mean, that's the whole purpose of cable, right?

ETA: I have never had a recording fail while using TotalMedia.

I have installed NPVR in addition to TotalMedia, but I don't like the interface as much as GBPVR. Also (and maybe this should be in another thread?) I can't seem to figure out how to search for shows.

Thanks

Sub hasn't implemented the in-built search feature in NPVR yet. Currently searching is available via the SearchLite plugin http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/SearchLite
