Hi,

Sorry for the title of the thread having nothing to do with this post; I was having a different problem and wrote a post about it, then figured out how to solve it on my own. But I couldn't figure out how to delete the post or change the title. So I adapted it to the new issue I've encountered.

I've just got npvr set up with a hauppage hvr 1600 card, got the video and audio going after downloading some codecs and it looks beautiful!!!

Now -- and I realize this is probably a very dumb question but I can't find an answer in the documentation -- I can't figure out how to change channels. When I press the scroll wheel on the mouse the channels appear in a window at the bottom of the screen, and i can scroll the wheel and see the names of channels cycle through. But nothing I do -- clicking etc. actually causes the channel to jump to the one I've selected. And once I have gotten the channel names and numbers to appear, I can't get them to go away.

When I right click while in live TV and select "channel" nothing seems happen.

The only way I can change channel is go out to the main menu, go into the TV Guide, find the channel I want, click on a show, then click on "watch." Is there a faster way?

The remote isn't working either.

Also - Should the WinTV software be installed before the nPVR software, or should the WinTV software be uninstalled before nPVR is installed? I wasn't clear on this.

Thanks,
David

hit enter after selecting a channel...Smile normally it's up/dn then enter..but nothing for mouse can do the enter..esc should make it go away..

remote should work, did you load remote software from cd? [ir32.exe]
check here: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...ot-working

i believe you should uninstall WinTV softs, not sure if the needed filters will stay after uninstall..[you still need software mux filter for analog recording]

Thanks, pBS - is the file you refer to, ir32.exe, part of the Hauppage files or part of the nPVR files?

In the thread you linked to, sub says: "You should be able to get it going by largely duplicating the GB-PVR section of irremote.ini and renaming it 'nPVR', and adding an 'nPVR=' to the Applications section of the ini file." I'm not quite sure where these files come from. Where do I find the irremote.ini with the GB-PVR code he refers to?

thanks again,
David

Thanks, McBain -- that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for changing topic, too.

Thanks for the help.

The problem is mostly solved but not completely. Just want to let folks know what the problem was...
and what seems to help.

I made the change to the ini file detailed here: http://www.gbpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.ph...45ButtonRemote (as McBain suggested). That alone didn't do it.

I looked for the ir32.exe file (as pBS implied) and didn't find it.

So then I figured I needed to redo the WinTV install.

I uninstalled all the WinTV files that I could find in "add/remove programs"

I went to the Hauppauge site and noticed that WinTV is now in version 7, and mine was older so I downloaded version 7. It requires that you have the version 6 or 7 CD...at first I thought I had a problem since my CD says "4.6A". In turns out that disk version 4.6A actually IS version 6 of the WinTV software, so I was able to go ahead and install that.

Now I find that there's in ir32.exe file installed in my system as there should be.

So now many of the functions on the remote work. Smile
channel up down, volume, pause, mute, prev. channel.

But there are still some problems: Sad
Most importantly, I can't get the guide. Hitting "guide" does nothing.
Hitting "TV" causes WinTV to launch, which is annoying.
There doesn't seem to be any button that corresponds to "ESC" when a video freezes. It seems like the "back/exit" button should do that, but it doesn't.
The "Go Home" button should take me back to the main menu, and it doesn't do anything.

So it seems that there is something wrong with the mapping of buttons to functions. How do I fix this?
The MENU button doesn't work.

Suggestions?

Have you checked that these edits are still applied? The Win7 install might have overwritten them.

Ahhh.... right you are!!!

So I added it back in. But things are still funky in not exactly the same way, but similar. Does it matter where in the listing I paste the block of code that starts with [npvr]

For example, red launches WinTV, whereas if I read the program listing correctly, red is supposed to skip back.

Is it possible there is another file somewhere that is overriding the key assignments that are made in this file?

I tend to add it on the end. Note that you need to restart the ir service after editing the ini file (should be a shortcut for this in the start menu or an icon by the clock).

Attached is my zipped ini file. I had put the block of text earlier; shortly after the npvr= line.

How do you force quit and restart the IR service? I had assumed that quitting and restarting nPVR would be sufficient, but I guess that is a bad assumption.
