Hi,

I am just setting up networked TV in my house and I am having problems with playing back Recordings on a client PC. The files play back fine via the Videos menu but I would rather play back via Recordings as you get the EPG program summary info and What's new etc. On the Recordings menu I get the list of programs etc OK but when I try to play one I get a black screen. The time bar shows 00.00.00 at both ends. No error messages.

The Server and client are connected via a wired ethernet network. I do have different decoders on the client and server (I am using the ATI decoders that came with the server graphics card on the server and Mainconcept on the Client). Could this be an issue? It is puzzling me as playback is perfect via the Videos menu on the client and the server plays recordings back fine locally too.

I am also running Serviio on the server to share NPVR recordings to a Sony TV via DLNA. This works well and the two programs don't seem to clash at all.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

What graphic card does the client have? Have you tried other decoders on the client? I don't think the Mainconsept decoder is a good choice, I seem to remember trying once but didn't get any picture. I'd suggest Cyberlink decoders.

Hi Reddwarf, the client has a Radeon X600 256Mb card. I have tried various decoders and I have the Cyberlink ones but I confess I can't recall whether I have tried them on this machine as a client. Mainconcept seemed to work well on the client machine when I was using it as a standalone NPVR machine but I will try the Cyberlink as you suggest.
Thanks for your help.

Well I will not bet that the Cyberlink works better but it worth a shot. If you download HD Pack (and perhaps SD pack) from http://www.dvbsupport.net/download/index...gory&id=18 you'll get the Cyberlink PDVD decoders that I had success with.

Had a fiddle with the codecs but no change. I have attached the log from trying to open a recording of A Room with a View via the recordings screen (black screen etc) and then opening the same file from the Videos screen and it played OK.

What am I doing wrong?

It seems to me that there is something wrong with your .net installation. Maybe Sub can shed more light on the issue?

probably something to do with this:
Code:
2010-12-02 22:31:43.328    [ERROR][1]    Unexpected exception activating .net remoting: System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.
have you specified the name of the npvr server machine in Settings on the Devices screen? it should be just the hostname by itself, no slashes. then you also need the path to the database; that should be in the usual UNC format - \\server\share\path
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

Thanks - I did have slashes in the server name which I have taken out and that error has gone from the log. Unfortunately I am still getting the same black screen when trying to play via the recordings screen.
There are a number of "element not found" lines in the log now (attached) referring to the skin directory. Do you know what might be causing that? I haven't changed anything in that folder.

Thanks again

The "element not found" messages are normal, ignore them.

however, you're not running the current release, and I'm not interested in troubleshooting a back-rev version. Please install 1.5.33 and the cumulative patch (see thread linked in my sig)
