XMLTV new channels work in GBPVR, not NPVR

Hi,

I've added some new channels to my DVB-S card in NPVR, and added them to XMLTV's list to download from UKRT.

Although the channels automatically got added (with listings) to the GBPVR TV guide, they are not even available to map in NPVR. I can still map the channels from the first time I configured NPVR to use XMLTV, but the extra channels aren't available in the drop down menu.

Tried deleting data.xml and making a new one, update EPG, restart recording service, reboot... etc.

Any tips?

It reads the xmltv file for the list of channels each time you view the xmltv channel list, so it absolutely should list all the channels. The only reason I can think of for this, is that you've not pointed the application at the file you think you have. (ie, some other xmltv file in another place on your disk with less channels)

I've noted that when new channels are added to the lineup in my xmltv file that they are automatically added to GBPVR too, but not NPVR. I have to go fiddle with the import xmltv file options, de-select all my current channels and just import the new ones, then I'm fine. Is this what we're talking about? I figured it just was a difference between the two programs and was living with it. My cable TV provider has been added more HD channels and I have to manually check every couple of weeks to see what I'm missing.

I've checked, and it is definitely reading the correct file. When I open the file, it also definitely has the correct channels and listings in it (GBPVR also reads them correctly, so presumably it is formatted okay). NPVR just won't add the newly added XMLTV channels to the choices in the channel mapping app.

If you need any logs, let me know and I'll post them up.

When the next release is out, if the problem is still present then let me know and I'll give you a patch with some extra logging etc to work out why.

Just to let you know, still can't see the newly added XMLTV channels in NPVR. GBPVR (mothballed, no tuners) still updating all channels from data.xml as usual.

Is NPVR supposed to add new channels based on them only being different in the xml file? It never has for me, but I really prefer having control of what gets changed myself, so if this feature is modified, I'd like an option to keep it as is.

No it doesnt, but you should see these channels listed in the Mapping field after you've already got channels, and are trying to map them to a channel in an xmltv file. NumberFive, thats what you're saying isnt working for you? Can you post a screenshot of the screen where you're not seeing them?

Sorry, I've discovered what the problem is and must apologise as it is no fault of NPVR.

XMLTV GUI stores which channel to grab dependent on whether it is the local user account or the Administrator account running it (at least on Windows 7). When I added new channels for it to download, I did so as the local user. When you press grab, it appears to download the data, but doesn't seem to have rights to write to data.xml. When run as Administrator, it could update data.xml, but was unaware that I had asked it to download new channels.

Solution is always run XMLTV GUI as Administrator, and NPVR can pick up the new channels no problem.

Why it seemed to fluke working one time, and GBPVR got the listings but NPVR didn't, I have no idea.
