I'm thinking about putting windows 7 on a mac mini and run nextpvr on it, since eye tv is complete rubbish when used with a remote (the interface has popup windows and just isnt designed as a all round front end, theres no service, if the app is closed nothing work, its a real PITA).

anyhow gbpvr is amazing and im getting old, i just want something that works and does all my needs.

my hardware is
- mac mini 2.26GHZ core 2 duo, 2GB RAM
- eyetv dtt deluxe
- harmony one remote

has anyone tried running gbpvr on a mac mini, on my mac i could map 9 or 10 apple remotes to my mac mini and have more buttons available on the remote (basically every button on my harmony one remote was usable) compared to the 5 or so on the apple remote.

how is playback these days? i switched from gbpvr in the first place because 1080p playback was a little choppy and was completely fine on the same box (similar specs, 2.26core 2 duo, 3 gb ram, ati hdmi gfx card).

and will my capture card work?

currently im not recording or watching tv on my mac mini, just using the tivo in my lounge and using boxee on this mac mini in the bedroom to watch local videos and vpn stuff from netflix.

You should get fairly decent playback of our H.264 channels on the Mac Mini. I think that has a nvidia 9400M, which combined with Win7 and EVR should give good hardware acceleration.

Assuming it's got BDA drivers then it should.

Sorry, I dont know on the remote question.
