ATI "TV Magazine" feature, are there any alternatives?

I like the TV Magazine feature of the old ATI cards. Are there any other software alternatives out there so I do not need to use ATI Media Center?

2) Would the old ATI Media Center program work with newer cards I could buy in the store today?

CCExtractor will extract closed captioning and save to a text file if you want, that's probably the closest you will get. Here is what I got on a Simpson episode on now.
