Nope, installing Flac codec from their webiste and also latest ffdshow will not get GBPVR to play flac files! It would be nice if GBPVR (like Nero) joined the list of software that can be configured for FLAC.

try
http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=15&release_id=35 or http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ i dont have any flac files to test them with, since well 30megs per file, bugger that. if they dont work, just google "flac" and "directshow"

Core codec fails for me after one track in a playlist (its the same in WMP so it isn't GBPVRs fault). Illiminable works. The problem is that you can only playback playlists (M3U) with the builtin Music Player because flac is not a supported file extension. Other plugins are either not supported on the later GBPVR releases or also similarly restricted. If we can have flac extension in Music Player I'm sure they will playback fine in GBPVR. I don't really want to have to create playlists for everything. While we are at it could we have "ape" added as well.

I dont personally use these file types, but in the next release you can specifiy the extensions in config.xml, so you should be able to add these (assuming you have the correct directshow filters installed).

The new MusicLibrary2 (the v6 one), has this ability as well. Inside the main config.xml there's an extention list. You can update this by hand
It wont read the tag but it should show the file and like sub said if you've got the correct filters it should play.

what file tag standards does ML2 support?

Ted the Penguin Wrote:what file tag standards does ML2 support? At the moment just WMA and MP3. The Current "Stable" release (5.x) supports a lot more. Not sure about flac though.

adspence Wrote:Cheers, I'll give the latest v6 a spin, and report back. It works. The flac files appear in ML2, and are playable. However its not a long term usable solution as they all appear in the "unknown" section, presumably because it can't read tags for them. I'll go back to using the M3U playlists from the regular player for now. |
