One feature I miss greatly is the ability to play large videos of type MPG through the web interface (NEWA). If I try to play these, I get an error in the Windows Error log:

Exception type: ArgumentOutOfRangeException
Exception message: MemoryStream length must be non-negative and less than 2^31 - 1 - origin.

I had no such problem under EWA :confused:http://forums.gbpvr.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

What denotes "large"....i.e. what file size are you trying to play?

I have a number of movies that I recorded with GBPVR using the Cyberlink MUX to create an mpg file. The smallest is a movie called The Pacifier recorded 26/10/09 and it is 3.54GB. I access these from the Video Library tab in NEWA, using VLC 1.1.9 on Mac OSX 10.6.7. None of these moves play, all give the "out of range" error. I was previously able to play these from the same video tab under GBPVR and EWA, using the latest version. At that time I used WinXP Pro.

With NPVR and NEWA things changed. At the moment I am unable to reliably transcode from TS to MPG but I did a manual conversion with FFMPEG of an episode of Wonders of the Solar System which was 6.5GB as a TS file but came in at 1.7GB as an MPG. This can be successfully played using exactly the same setup as above, which suggests that the error kicks in at about 2GB?? I get the same error even when playing on the host machine (same hardware but which is now running Win7 Pro 32 bit)

If I save the m3u file to the desktop and play from there, I get the same error, which suggests that the error lies with the web server component.

Hope this helps.

Greg

Can you post a screen shot of the error as well as the web.log from the logs folder so I can take a look.

No error appears on the screen, VLC simply starts to try to play the video then stops.

I have attached the VLC debug log as well as the Win7 application log event, plus the web.log from NPVR.

thanks

Give the attached a try....I am seeing two errors and I know this should fix one of them.

Post the logs again after applying this patch and trying to stream the video.

Also....read the second post in this thread and see if that helps.

OK, I installed the updated file (making sure I unblocked it in the Properties dialog) and restarted the host. I now get the error in the attached screen shot:

Help! I had renamed the old file before copying the new one. I had changed them back again to the original but I am still getting the same error! Any suggestions?

I have also reinstalled the latest build of NPVR and restarted, still with the same error.

OK, panic averted. I reinstalled the NEWA 1.1.5 update and all is well.
