I am not sure what I am missing here. I am using XMLTV to create my epg for an analog tuner (1100). I am using the same file and process that I used with GBPVR for years.

Windows scheduler updates the XML file each night. All ok.

Manual npvr updates the EPG fine. All is correct.

BUT it does not do this automatically... where is the setting and what am I doing wrong because it is fine when forced but not if it is left alone.

I looked in the wiki for info on the "misc2" settings but there wasnt anything there. The numbers I have set are 180 and 2. I am not sure what the 180 means but I guess the 2 = 2am for an auto update of the EPG. But after 4 days nothing has happened.

Thanks

Matthew

Many XMLTV import problems relate to improper creation of the input file in a folder that is protected by UAC, like "Program Files" A manual import is run with different permissions than the nightly import.

martin - thanks for the reply. I disabled UAC in Win7 but I am very new with Win7. I then just changed all the permissions on the folder where the xml file is and also the xml file to allow everyone and everyuser type to do everything. I will see what happens in a few day Smile

no it didnt help. There are full read and write permissions ont he folder and the file foreveryone. I set every user to full read and write incase NPVR uses a funny user...

Is this because I need a lesson on Win7?

Or is it a MPVR thing?

I dont see many posts about Analogue EPGupdates not happening... so it must be me but where and how?

Post the nrecord.log from overnight and I'll take a look. I'll check if its running the update, and if there were any errors.

sub - I am sorry you have to do this. I really had a good look at the logs (look clean to me) I then spent a good amount of time verifying the listing numbers with the XML file by looking at the unique records in the XMLTV file and they go very close to the correct count. (they are out by a few listings because I was running NPVR at 2 am but XMLTV at 3am - but thats not the issue because my EPG only goes 3 days now and the XMLTV is 7 days into the future).

I was thinking that NPVR was only reading through the first bit of the file but thats not it...

So I couldnt solve it myself and have attached the log.

Regards

Matthew

According to those logs, everything went fine, and it managed to pull in all the listings in the file. If you're sure they're not all there, then the next steps is probably for you to zip and attach the xmltv file and the database so I can check, but its not worth doing that until I'm back in New Zealand in a week.

I'm guessing it's not an application problem, and there will be some logical reason for it.

Sub - Thanks for looking I will bump this with new data in a few weeks because I can see that there are some other things you really need to attend to when you are back in NZ. This is not that important in the short term Smile
