Today i managed to install and scan to fill channels: 7 videos and 30 radios. When i start npvr, press the arrow till Live TV, Right click and choose Channels, then choose any, i always have ...please wait... for 5 seconds then a black screen. Occasionally a grey or green barre will appear at the bottom.

When a video channel is selected, right clicking opens a dialog including audio stream and subtitle stream.
When on a radio channel, right clicking open a dialog w/o these options

Thanks in advance for your help

ps Playing AVIs photos and music seem ok

What video decoders do you have installed, and what have you tried to select on the Settings->Decoders page?

Have not installed anything but the npvr and required sw environment.

Playing with decoders, I find that in order to have audio it is necessary and enough to set he-aac=divx-aac' all the other decoders settings is irrelevant
Can not have video whatever the mpeg2 X h264 combinations
Only use mapped audio is always checked

So, there is a significant progress as i now have, at least, the sound track

i get occasional unhandled exception with a box containing
[COLOR="#8b0000"]See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

i must have misunderstood the question. Not sure how to tell which are the decoders installed on my machine and i'd appreciate if you could guide me on that, if they are listed in the npvr decoder section here is what it says

mpeg2 video: disabled | microsoft mpeg2 video decoder | cbva dmo wrapper filter
h264 video: disabled | divx h264 decoder | divx decoder filter
mpeg1 audio: disabled| mpeg audio decoder
ac3 audio: disabled | microsoft mpeg-1/ dd audio decoder
e-ac3 audio: disabled
aac audio: disabled | divx aac decoder
he-aac audio: disabled | divx aac decoder

as stated, i tried all the combinations and the video is black whatever the mpeg2 video X h264 video setting and the audio works iff he-aac audio is set to divx aac decoder

Many thanks for your time

you need a video decoder
use google to see what works in israel for your type of broadcast
when setting up do a recording rather than using live tv
also check you have selected actual folders for recordings directory

I have just checked the Israeli TV spec and you will need an H264 video and HE-aac audio Codec - unfortunately the DivX H264 codec doesn't work for NPVR. As you are using Vista the only ones usable are the Arcsoft or Cyberlink.
You could try the SAF codec pack

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...decs-pack)

I am using the SAF 6.0 alfa with very good results on UK Freeview DVB-T2 HD but installed DivX aac codec - it is the only aac codec that works here - the SAF one may work for you.
PM Hoborg for unlock instructions Cool
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Actually I use the ffdshow-tryout on Vista for h264 mixed with ffdshow for mp2, ac3 and either DivX or MONOGRAM for HE-AAC and don't have problems*, in fact it is marginally better CPU wise.

The * is that I cannot play LiveTV with any decoder with good a/v sync, I always have to do a quick rewind at start up. Sometimes this does manifest itself as a black screen.
