Hi !

I've finally installed NPVR after 3 years of happiness with GB PVR.

First, I'm impressed by NPVR. Cool and nice. I'm loving it already.

All is good, except that I have a problem with multiple recordings at the same time.

NPVR is installed on a XP PC with 2 DVB-T USB tuners (AverMedia & Emtec). If I want to record just one show with the first tuner, everything is fine. But, if I want to record in the same time a second show on a different channel with the second tuner or watch something in live tv mode, Nrecord.exe crashes or hangs.

Seems that Nrecord.exe doesn't communicate anymore with NPVR 4-5 seconds after the second recording is beginning. At this moment, NPVR hangs a little moment, then I close it with task manager.
With the tray icon of NPVR, when I select "Show status", nothing is displayed in the window. After restarting Recording service, my 2 tuners reappear in the "show status" windows, recordings seems to restart. But 10-15 seconds after, the same bug comes all over again.

I don't think that is a firewall problem, because ports 8968 and 7969, and NPVR.exe and Nrecord.exe are in the exception of my Windows' firewall.

Any idea how I can fix this problem ?... Any help would be appreciate, thanks !

There have been several XP users with this problem. It relates to a problem in the Microsoft psisdecd.dll filter. There is a few threads here that talk about this. Ultimately these threads lead to this thread on the MediaPortal forums, which has the version of the DLL to correct the problem, and instructions for installing it (since its a file XP usually protects and overwrites).

I have been running NPVR all year on XP with a single USB DVB-T card but have just bought the twin tuner version of the card to use instead as it is cheaper than the single tuner version. All seemed to be working ok when I saw this message so I setup two concurrent recordings which crashed the computer and produced a crash dump. Just installing the DVBfix did not cure the problem but after reading the instructions I installed Windows Media Player 11 and all now seems ok.

hi sub, I'm having the same problem as jorionpi. But my case is running on Win7 Home premium 64bit. Does you link about "psisdecd.dll" filter apply to my case?
Also, in my case, the problem looks more serious. when I want to kill the 2 nrecord.exe in task manager, they are still there and can't be removed. Even using taskkill /f command, they remain the same. Thus NPVR can't work normally after the service restart.

Why do you have two Nrecord running?
