I've been using LAV Audio Decoder for a while now for all audio in NPVR except for HE-AAC for which Divx AAC is required here in UK for our Freeview HD audio. LAV Audio decoder is available in the HE-AAC decoder settings but gives no sound if selected.
Now it does not seem to be the "fault" of LAV because the Freeview HD files play ok using it in Zoomplayer. So I think one of the NPVR filters probably needs tweaking to support LAV. I'm just being minimalist here trying to eliminate unecessary filters I guess but it would be nice to have a choice of HE-AAC decoders or eliminate Divx from the system.

I think the issue has to do with the media type used by the MS MPEG-2 Demux; it's not something sub can fix. Hoborg recently got LAV filter fixed for E-AC3 audio, you may want to see if the latest version posted works for you.

View threads here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...highlight=
and here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=...ost1513305

on the next page of the doom9 thread there's a new release of LAV, though I can't tell if it includes the E-AC3 fix posted earlier (but I would guess that it does).

I could not find any newer version than 0.3 of LAV, and no link to "next page" in the post. Is there a newer version?
Sub, the MadVR renderer looks interesting (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146228) would it be possible to use it in NextPVR?

@ johnsonx42 I don't think that's correct about MPEG-2 Demux because as per my post I can play the NPVR recordings in Zoomplayer using LAV . I do have Zoomplayer set to use the MPEG2-Demux. OS Windows 7 Pro SP1 BTW.

sorry, the link I gave above just pointed to a single, post. here's a better link: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=...ost1513305

that said, 0.30 does appear to be the very latest version. hoborg did make a comment in his post on doom9 saying "So now only HE/LATM AAC remain" implying those two are still not working.

As I don't know any more about this than what is in these threads I read, I will leave this to those who do know more about it. perhaps our good friend hoborg has further info for you.

If someone finds out the media type and format block that LAV expects for HE-AAC, then I can see if I can add support for it in the next release.

I did try adding support for it a while back, but unfortunately I couldnt get it to do more than crash the application.

I think LATM is what is used for HE-AAC in broadcast television, so that sample you already have is probably appropriate.
