On my client I've been using PVRX2 and it works fine with hardware acceleration using Cyberlink PowerDVD h264 decoders on Windows XP. So I installed NPVR hoping for a similar result, but the video skips and jerks using the same cyberlink decoder, and the CPU usage is a whole lot higher than with PVRX2. So hardware acceleration isn't working. I've tried to make registry changes as I did with PVRX2, replacing PVRX2 with NPVR and also NextPVR, but that doesn't help either. Any suggestions welcome.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CyberLink\common\cl264dec\PVRX2]
"UIUseHVA"=dword:00000001
"UIVMode"=dword:00000001
"UIGamma"=dword:00000000
"UICB"=dword:00000000
"UICR"=dword:00000000
"UICON"=dword:00000000
"UISAT"=dword:00000000

(there is no break in cl264dec.. just appears when I did the copy and paste into the post)
Regards,
Hasso

It is working just fine, but you need to choose correct renderer (VMR9 on XP / EVR on Vista/Win7).

For PDVD11:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\Common\clcvd\NextPVR]
"UIUseHVA"=dword:00000001
"UIVMode"=dword:00000001

OK... I tried VMR9 (I was using VMR9 Custom) and I get both the resize bug, and still the jerkiness, so that didn't help. I've applied your registry setting, that didn't help. Only thing that does work is if I use Overlay, I didn''t really want to shell out more $$ for Windows 7 to get this to work on the client. Was hoping NPVR would still work as it did with GBPVR/PVRX2 on Windows XP..

Hasso

I just keep monitoring these threads (I'm on GBPVR XP SP3) and wondering when I should switch... not yet!

I'm happy with NPVR on Windows 7 (definitely better than GBPVR), but until I can overcome the jerky/stuttering playback on the NPVR client running on XP (or purchase Windows 7 and go through building yet another PC), I'll stay with GBPVR.

Having said that, anyone else willing to share their knowledge/settings with getting flawless playback of h.264 recordings/live TV with NPVR on XP?

Hasso
