Recently upgraded from GBPVR to NPVR. Everything works really well, except the marking of seasonal multi recordings in the TVguide.

I carefully select a program, select to record all in series, press OK, and back in the TVguide the prog is still shown in black - it has not turned red. So I have no obvious indication that the prog series has been selected to record. This can result in me selecting the program for record again as it seems the selection has failed.

This leads to many failed recordings with 0 bytes in the target file. Other times it leads to multiple identical recordings of the same program with names like example...ts, example...-0.ts, example...-1.ts. Sometimes all the identical recordings all work. Other times the all fail. This difference in behaviour may be due to the fact that sometimes having seen the series record setting apparently fail (not turning red), I will select to record the prog as a once-only recording.

Whatever, something is very wrong with setting series to record, and the response in the TVguide, and this is further frustrated by having identical recordings either wasting disk space and messing up filing, or failing totally.

I'm new to NPVR, but if there is any other information you require, please let me know.

Regards,

What EPG source are you using?

I think there is a bug with the DVB EPG that could lead to this.

I'm using DVB EPG. Is this something which you can work around/fix, or doe the EPG need fixing?

Is there anything I can do meantime to avoid the problems?

Investigating is near the top of my todo list, but I havent found time to look at it yet. Been busy with day job stuff the last couple of days.

I suspect it wont happen if you untick the 'update dvb epg during live tv' option, and then do an 'empty epg' followed by a 'update epg'.

Thanks. I will try that. Pardon the newbie, but I cannot find the Empty/Update EPG controls.

Right-click the UI and select settings, go to Misc tab and deselect Update DVB EPG during live tv.

Then go to the Channels tab and click empty EPG followed by update EPG

One more question. Now that my pending recording list is corrupted with al these duplicates, is there a quick way I can purge the database of all pending recordings?

Use the web interface and put a tick into each of the pendings then hit delete.
