I would like to be able to have a negative pre-padding so as to be able to start a recording after a program has been showing for a while. This is useful for me for the late night talk shows, for example, so I can just catch the musical acts by recording the last 10 minutes of the show.

Why not just do a manual recording and set the time that you want the show to record?

You can also instant skip any number of minutes into a recording by typing the number, and then pressing skip. So if you'd recorded a 60 minute show and wanted to only watch the last 10 minutes, then "50, Ctrl+Right" (or your remote's equivalents) would get you there instantly.

I don't see how to set up a recurring manual recording? And would this skip episodes that have already been recorded like (I think) it does for regular recurring subscriptions?

This is what I have been doing but it would be nice to not have to do unnecessary recording and use disk space.

I have a different reason I'd like this one - Sunday afternoon NFL football. I record some shows on CBS on Sunday night, and when the football game runs long, the shows get delayed. I usually am around and know how long the delay was, if I could shift both the beginning and ending times forward, I wouldn't end up with part of the previous show at the beginning of my show.

Thanks.

Yup negative minutes would be great in pre and post padding. This would remove conflict when doing a Quick Record in TV Guide.

I could do a manual recording, but most manual recording I did fail for some reason except when I don't specify a name for the recording.

I've discovered that the TV Listings plug-in will allow negative padding amounts, which works out pretty well for my needs.

Gee did I miss this !!! Yup with TV Listing you can program negative minutes.

However, in Recording earlier today, I programmed using Quick Record a show with that end a 22h02,
In TV Recording, I just tried to put 3 negative minutes post padding, when I try to record another show at 22h00, it detect a conflict and just ask to cancel other show to proceed, no chance to put pre or post padding. I did an EPG update to no avail.

When I try to modify it in Recording, NextPVR crashed !!

So it's not fullproof for now. I will do more testing.
