Hi

I have installed NPVR at the Server.

In my livingroom I have a HTPC where I have installed NPVR as a client.

I have shared the the data folder at the server and I have shared the recording folder.
From Windows explore I can access the shared files and I can delete and edit them.
From NPVR I cannot play them but I can se the recorded show, When I choose watch nothing happens. I have tried move a file to the local harddrive and play it from the video folder. Then NPVR plays it. Therefor I do not think there is any codec problems.

When I look at the logfile it is pointing to D:\Optagelser_NPVR\Juno\Juno_20110828_15051645.ts. D is the local drive at the server where the file is stored. But is the program looking at the HTPC's local harddrive D?

Is the client installation handling this correct?

Thanks

It looks like you are not using the default file locations so I am not sure, but the database share should be pointing at your NPVR folder. This is the one that on 7 or Vista typically would be \\yourcomputername\users\public\npvr. I am not sure where it is in XP. If that is configured correctly, the recordings should be available from NPVR. Are you getting a "server database not found at \\xxx\xxxxx\xxx" error message when you launch the client?

I just reread your post and it seems that you can see the database. If the you add the storage location to your recordings in Media Folders /video folders in setup can you then view the recording from the video plugin?

I have added the storage location for my recordings to the vidoe folder in the setup and I can view the recordings. I have tested at the Servers local harddrive C and D and it is working from both of them.

Try watching a recording from the Recordings screen, then zip and attach the npvr.log from the client, and the nrecord.log from the server and I'll take a look.

Your client PC doesnt need to have it's recording directory set to \\server\opt_NPVR. This setting is not used on a client PC.

I have recorded a new tv show called Datimg in the dark and tried to watch it.

Here are the requested files - I hope.

There is no sign of the streaming request arriving at the server, so I'm guessing you've got some firewall software (on either the client or server) that is blocking this communication (or you've entered an incorrect server name).

I have removed the firewall from the server and now it is working.

I just don't understand way I can play the file if it's copyed to the vidoe folder / the vidoe folder is set to the folder of recordings.
Is it because they access the files different.

Well thank you very much. Now I have to try to adjust the firewall. Is it a program i have to open for or...

Great - good to hear you've got it going.

Streaming a recording or live tv is done over a TCP/IP, wheras playback from the video library just plays regular files from the file systems available on the local machine (including mapped drives).
