Only audio/ no video and program freezes when I go into the decoder settings tab.

Hello,

When I start up NPVR everything works fine, my tv tuner picks up channels and the EPG works,
however, when I select live tv only the audio plays. I decided that the decoder was not working correctly so I went into settings and selected
the "decoder" tab, this however, causes NPVR to freeze and I can't even end the process, I have to log out.

Any help will be appreciated

Zip and post your NPVR.log showing the crash.

Where do you find the log?

It will be in the data directory. The Vista/Win7 default location is "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs". I'm not sure about XP, maybe "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\NPVR\Logs".

XP location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Logs.

Ok, I got 2. The .log is the latest one (It didn't crash) the .log.1 was a crashed (well freeze) one.
I hope there is nothing personal like my name in there (I did check but might of missed :3 ), If you do see anything private can you please tell me.

I think you configure NPVR to use FFDshow for video then uninstall FFDshow.
Now NPVR trying to use FFDshow, but it is missing:

Reconfigure your NPVR decoders.

Yup, what hoborg said.

You can either reinstall ffdshow, change the filters and then uninstall ffdshow

or

Open config.xml in notepad and change all references to the ffdshow [audio/video] Decoders to "Disabled". (They should be in the <Decoders> section.)

...

You should then be able to adjust the filters in Settings again. (Possible bug for sub to check.)

Edit:

I just tested the scenario here and clicking on the Decoders setting worked for me with the missing decoders set to "Disabled".

Hmmmm.... It doesn't work, I installed ffdshow, Nope. I changed to Disabled, Nope. I'll try a restart.
