Recording service not running at recording time

Every now and then I get hit by a missed recording, caused by 'Recording service not running at recording time'. It's always unexpected and it might be weeks from one occurrence to the next.
I never do things like stop the recording service manually and my system runs 24-7. I can only guess that NPVR just stops responding every now and then.
Is this a common occurrence or is it just me? If I'm not the only one, has anyone thought of a way to at least raise an alert that something is not right (recording service not running)? Some sort of watchdog process maybe? How could this be done?

I havent had any but my pc shuts down everyday at 8:30am and starts again at 4:30am so that probably helps clear crap

I get it occasionally and often the programme has actually been recorded. I had it this morning on a recording when for some reason the same programme was being recorded twice and both versions are there on the disk. However I do get it occasionally if the Record service has crashed which for me is most often happens at the end of the scan phase of EPG update.

I am in the same position, and it just happened to me this morning. I don't recall it happening with GB-PVR, at least not without some problem with the channel lineup. But that is not the case now, though I rescanned the channels just in case, but there was not any difference shown.

I did delete a channel yesterday, and renumbered the remaining ones to be consecutive in the TV Guide. Maybe that triggered it?

It happends to mee too from time to time, and in about 50% the recording is actually there.

No - I was never able to reproduce it, or find any useful clues as to the cause in anyone's logs.

The same problem was has been around for years, even in GBPVR days, but for some reason there have been more reports of it in the last couple of months.

I thought you had some kind of change ready for the next release that would avoid this problem. Is that not the case?

Sub said he did here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post423242 Reading some other posts the best real fix I see coming is on back-to-back analog recordings (the logs seem to show the graph is being stopped early).

The key to the next release is getting a version out that sub can start debugging with again.
