Have you tried out my AutoLoad script (it's on the wiki)?
For me it's,

hmm I probably should. Can you break out of it to access the popcorn UI? and can you turn off the popcorn? Ass hitting the power button, wouldn't it reload?

The simple answer is Yes, it has a configurable three second delay when you can press Enter to get to a menu to access the NMT UI. (or for me who uses the multi server version I can select a different NextPVR server from this menu also)

and can you turn off the popcorn? Ass hitting the power button, wouldn't it reload?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by this but to put the NMT into standby you press the power button on the remote & as soon as you see the NMT splash screen you press it again & that put it into standby (it's all explaind on the wiki <grin>) then when you wake it from standby it will display the interruptible menu.
