I've released v1.6 of nDroid.

The nDroid app will be available only from the Android Market from now on.

The nDroid Windows Service can be found along with installation and usage on the nDroid wiki page.

Please post feedback / error reports here.

Cheers,
Brian

The Android app is only available from the Android Market from now on. The installation section on the wiki explains the easiest way to find it using the Market app on your Android device.

Hi.

Great idea with this app but unfortunately I have a problem getting it started.

The client and service are installed. The IP address and port (different from the same N-PVR web server) has been set. The only problem is that the app is just saying "Downloading files..." for an eternity. I have restarted the service (also the server) but without any help. I am running on my local wi-fi.

I did some test where I changed the port on the client to something else than the one on the server. Here I got the error message "Fails to download...". That means that my original setup is correct.

Any solution to this?

Regards,
Krissi

Do you have a firewall running on the server? And, if so, did you put in an exception rule for nDroidService.exe?

Agree with BrettB that it could be a firewall issue.

Failing that, check the Logs folder (something like \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Beetec Services\nDroid Service\Logs). In particular, the nDroidServiceListener.log should contain info about connections.

OK, I appreciate that its a work in progress, but a few issues:

1) If you get the network parameters wrong, you get an error, and the app disappears. There is no mechanism to fix the parameters, other than Clear Data and try again.

2) All Timeslots view only seems to give part of the day. Its midday, but it is only showing from 20:30 tonight and seems to be missing lots of shows.

3) All Timeslots view shows the channel number only - could we have logo/name?

4) nDroid service version shows as UNKNOWN

Suggestions:

A) Sort the All Timeslots view in NDroidService, not on the phone? Its only done once a day, and my quad-core PC is faster than the phone! Mind you, I have 18 channels and an HTC Desire and it didnt seem to take too long.

B) Show duration or end times in All Timeslots and Now Showing views?

C) Swipe between views?

Cheers

Yep, discovered that myself last night, I'm looking into it.

Quote:2) All Timeslots view only seems to give part of the day. Its midday, but it is only showing from 20:30 tonight and seems to be missing lots of shows.
Hmm, that suggests I've got timezone issues again. Odd, I'm using the same 'time' code as for the 7 day guide (or so I thought). It's actually supposed to show from current time of day. I'll check ASAP.

Quote:3) All Timeslots view shows the channel number only - could we have logo/name?
Part of the 'work in progress'. I want to try some different things and have included 'as is' mainly as proof of concept.

Quote:4) nDroid service version shows as UNKNOWN
You're right - doing it for me to. I'll see what I've broken.

Quote:A) Sort the All Timeslots view in NDroidService, not on the phone? Its only done once a day, and my quad-core PC is faster than the phone!
It's not as simple as that. It's the actual UI ('view') that takes time to construct not the gathering / sorting of the data. Again, still just a proof of concept and I have ideas for improving performance.

Quote:B) Show duration or end times in All Timeslots and Now Showing views?
Yep, see my answer to point 3. The Now Showing view is also on my list for improving the details.

Quote:C) Swipe between views?
It's on my to do list but not a high priority. - it'll likely be a feature at some point but not sure when.

Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers,
Brian

I've updated the Android Market with v1.6.6 which hopefully fixes the Timeslot view problems and also the nDroid Service version issue. Currently working on other issues to be fixed ASAP.

Yes, both issues seem fixed.
One more :-(
Sometimes (but not always), I get a new time entry, for the same time.
Screen shot attached.

Cheers
