Hi,

Today I've been tidying my home and have been watching shows on the main TV (which is connected to my NPVR server) and on my laptop that I've been moving about (NPVR slave). I've had both on at the same time and try to keep them on the same channel.

A cool feature or plugin would be to have an option to make the client display exactly what the main TV is viewing, and even better would be some mechanism of synchonising the audio.

I've had the same thought since I'm limited to 2 tuners. If two people are watching the same show, live, having an option to "join in to live tv" would be really handy at times.

You could try Splashtop. It's a remote access app that's supposed to do a good job with streaming media.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

VNC is another remote access app which should allow you to view what is on the server.

Yes, I use VNC to manage my PCs.

I think NumberFive and I are looking for something a little more built-in to NPVR Client-side. Off the top of my head, a very rough idea of how it would work:

Someone is already watching channel 123. Channel 123 is selected to watch live on another client. Message pops-up, "this channel is already being viewed live, would you like to join in? (yes/no)" If no is selected, the next available tuner is used just as it currently works.

Digital tuners do this already with mult-rec without the prompt. Keeping them in sync would certainly defeat the purpose of a PVR though.

smajor has it exactly as I imagine. The desire is to have a mechanism such that the content (Live TV / recordings) being shown on the master TV is cloned onto the slave screen(s). Therefore, what I'm watching on the living room TV can be viewed on the kitchen TV.

(In my case, my kitchen TV is my laptop running NPVR client! Big Grin)

As Martin already said, this is what npvr is doing. If you start live TV on a channel that is already watched on another instance, it joins in. Keeping a client and server audio in sync is a totally different matter, that would require complete control over the networks transfer with feedback etc.
