First of all: Merry Christmas to you all.

I got a problem recently when a programmed show hasn't been recorded. I deleted the failed recording entry. I think the pc didn't wake from sleep, I seem to be having more of that recently.
I am now trying to figure out why the pc didn't wake.

In the nrecord log, I see "Requesting wake up for 'RecordingOID1343' at 23-12-2011 22:58".
Some time ago I knew where I could see where windows stores the wake requests, but I can't find it again. Can someone help me with this?
I think it was some switch in powercfg? And wake timer?

When typing the above post, I remember about "wake timers" (wrote that in the last line). Searched the web again and found it after all: powercfg -waketimers

So, now I got a new question: These timers I can see are all in the future. Is there a way to "record" all waketimers, so in a later stage I can view back the list?

I guess you could run a scheduled task every hour or something (without wake) to run powercfg and pipe the output to append to a text file ???

Thanks, but maybe I should focus on the general problem (I can run powercfg manually after planning a recording) instead of spending a lot of time on the waketimer check.
That is, sometimes the pc doesn't wake also not from WOL from the MVP. Then I have to press the space bar on the pc to get it to wake.

I still don't know why the show I wrote about in the first post of this thread went wrong, I will never know but it never happened since.

Did some work to analyze a future problem:
1. Since the last post I checked the waketimers in the pc every time I made a manual recording and it never failed.
2. I also had a standbytracker tell me whenever the pc went a sleep or was woken.
3. And I am now able to wake the pc from my laptop using WOL.

No issues till yesterday:
I have experienced this problem occasionally before, but couldn't understand what the problem exactly was, but now I may have a clue.
I tried to wake the pc from the MVP with WOL. The pc didn't wake. When I had the problem before, I had to walk up 2 stairs to press the space bar on the pc to wake it up, but now I could wake (and it did!) the pc from my laptop using WOL while the MVP didn't succeed on it!

I don't know why the MVP couldn't wake the pc using WOL, while the laptop could.
I attached the logs.

The MVP must be some sort of client and the fact that WOL from the laptop works obviously points to a problem on this MVP device. I use WOL in my Client NPVR startup batch file which first checks if the client is fully networked and if not waits until it is. Then it checks if the server is networked and if not sends a WOL. Is WOL on the MVP correctly setup to wake the server using the same settings as used on the laptop. The other possibility is that the WOL is being sent too soon before the network is up.

Most people have Sleep not Wakeup problems. MCE Standby tool is the best solution for sorting out Sleep problems and does produce a log of Sleep and Wake events and it will tell you which device caused the last Wake.

The WOL logic hasn't changed on the MVP for years and the client hasn't changed since October, so I suspect the problem is somewhere else.

This WOL issue is something that has been happening once in a while, but I am not sure when it started.
Any suggestions how to analyze this? If the MVP isn't able to wake the pc, I can wake it from the laptop using mc-wol.

Sorry no idea where you go from here, but I strongly doubt it was changed with the patches this year.

As a test I issued som WOL commands from an MVP to my PC, and Wireshark is seeing them, so nothing should be wrong with mvpmc. Make sure you enable MagicPacket WOL on your NIC.
