Thanx, Greg Grampz Wrote:Info on the wiki does not cover what you have suggested, why I am questioning so much. I assume that setting up the IR Server Suite will nix my current approach... If you're talking about emulating the mce remote, that can only be done if using a usb ir receiver. I might be wrong but hauppauge IR receivers don't recognize MCE's IR codes. Anyway, back to your current issues: you first need to test if the ir dongle/receiver and harmony combo is working. I see your tuner doesn't come with the 45 button remote, but one of those idiotic credit card shaped ones... The command/button names might be different from those mentioned in the wiki. So, making sure the irremote program is running, create an empty text file called debug.txt. Open it with notepad, and make sure it has focus. Press any button in the remote (the one that came with dongle, not the logitech). If everything is working, you should see in notepad, the name of the button you just pressed. That is the buttonname you have to specify in irremote (ex: VOLDOWN). Test every button, and match their names against those under the NPVR section in irremote.ini. Now that you have checked what buttons irremote has available, its time to configure what keystrokes will be outputted by it. Check the keyboard reference in the wiki (http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...dReference). So... if you wanted to toggle the "info and timeline bar osd" (from the keyboard reference: CTRL+B) with the "Menu" button of your original remote, you'd add the following in the NPVR section of irremote.ini: Code: MENU={ctrl}b Restart the IR software for changes to apply, and test it on NPVR. If that works, you're halfway there. Open Logitech Harmony Remote Software, and add your device/tuner to it (I suppose you already did that). Under the button assignment, assign your hauppauge remote Menu command to your Logitech's Info button. Update your logitech remote and test again (this time with the Logitech). If that doesn't work (but with the original does), try the "Capture Infrared" option in Logitech Software. The database might have the wrong code, and this way you can correct that using your original remote. Just follow the instructions. Update the remote again and test. Should be good to go now. My advice would be to first get it working smoothly with the original remote. Only then should you try tweaking it for use with the logitech. Hope this helps... PS.- I still think that with a Logitech Harmony, you should get a cheap MCE usb IR receiver... BTW, is the HVR-950Q the only hauppauge tuner you have installed?
If I were you, I would just find a Microsoft MCE ir dongle on ebay, even if it means buying a whole remote just to get it. It will just work with no issues and harmony knows what it is and will emulate it perfectly. Then you can hack all you want with things like event ghost or registry hacks.
Here is one for $13.80, free shipping and there are lots for $15.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-new-HP-MCE...20bdfc32b5 Note it is from China though. There are full remotes coming from the US for about $20. Just make sure it is a Windows Media Center compatible remote and not some ultra cheap one that does not do the ehome connection.

I have ordered a usb ir receiver and MCE remote. Should be here within the next couple of days. Did some research on event ghost, and like what I see. All pretty greek to me . Any tips or pointers? If you purchase a Hauppauge 2250 MCE kit you get a remote and TWO TUNERS too.
