I've just been playing around with XBMC as a way of accessing iPlayer in a WAF-friendly way (firing it up as a custom task), now that we can't do that in nPVR any more (shame!). One thing really struck me was the ease with which settings can be changed directly from the main app: you start the app and don't have to touch the keyboard again. It's really optimised for the remote, whereas with nPVR we need to revert to the keyboard. Fine if it's a single-user TV/monitor in your bedroom but not ideal for a main room setup where the remote is easily to hand.
I'd like to suggest that the next major release includes configuration in the main app not as a separate dialog box.
