External Timing.Info file

Sub, what is the proper name for an external Timing.Info file? NRecord creates it as Name.ts.Timing.Info and NextPVR will play either Name.Timing.Info or Name.ts.Timing.Info but Name.ts.Timing.Info files are not sent to the MVP.

I've switch the development PC off for the day, but I'll check tomorrow. From memory it's Name.ts.Timing.Info. I'd have to check why it's not being sent to the MVP.

Can you zip and attach the timing.info for this same file?
ie notepad "F:\nPVR\Recording\Americas Got Talent\Americas Got Talent_20110831_21002200.ts:timing.info"

gEd, that is the internal ADS Timing.Info file. I am looking for the name of the external file that the TS writer creates on a share or non-NTFS drive, or optionally via a registry setting.

Martin, I checked the code and I think it's looking for 'Name.Timing.Info' not 'Name.ts.Timing.Info', even though the latter is what it generates. Can you see if that naming helps you get the info?

That's what I thought was happening (see post one), but I think the PC accepts both names which was a bit confusing at first with whurlston's sample yesterday actually working on my NMT.

I'm actually planning ahead hoping you can implement a minimum archive feature in a future version and as I always create the external file anyway. I can't clean in post-processing because I usually stop short. In the meantime I will be using carpeVideo's tool and if it moves name.* I will be okay with my NAS. If you leave the naming as is, I will ask if carpeVideo (and you during archiving) can move name.ts.Timing.Info to name.Timing.Info

It might be simpler if NPVRWriter just wrote name.Timing.Info there probably aren't a lot of us using this right now.

I've modified the NMT logic to handle either name.

If I do add an archive feature, I'd probably add logic to extract the ADS stream to a separate file if it needs to.

That works too, thanks. I mainly am a watch and delete user, but in the rare cases when I do keep a file, I cut the padding at the front, which trashes the meta data. Having the external Timing.Info allows my to process it after the cut.
