Hi,

for those of you who like to try it out and are willing to provide feedback, I've attached pre-releases of the TV Listings plugin and XmltvExtras utility. Since NPVR 2.3.6 now supports audio-, video- genre- and first-run-information from xmltv epg sources out of the box, the plugin uses these information, while the XmltvExtras utility is still used to extract the "icon" information for programmes from xmltv.

Therefore, the TV Listings.db3 database file will get updated when running the new XmltvExtras utility for the first time. Besides the binaries and the database file, there are also changes in the skin files, so you should copy them over from the attached .zip-files, too. Please backup your data first before installing the beta-versions of the plugin and utility, especially your TV Listings.db3 database in case something goes wrong.

Changelog for TV Listings:
Quote:- added TheMovieDB lookup
- fixed daymask for scheduling manual recurring recordings
- improved startup behaviour of recording panel
- added 'failure reason' for failed scheduled recordings to description string
- fixed an issue regarding start- and endtime calcualtion for manual recordings
- added option to update an existing image in \Media\Shows from the details popup
- using the stock npvr data for genre, audio-/video-descriptions and 'first run' information
- added status indicator image to indicate first-runs inside listings grid (enable/disable in skin file)
- added checkbox-selection of genres for categories popup
- added preview image for selected show details area on tv listings main screen
- taking 'WatchedKickInSeconds' from config.xml in account for playback positions

Changelog for XmltvExtras:
Quote:- stripped down functionality to only import "icon" attributes of programmes

The update image feature works but the new image is not displayed until I quit NPVR and relaunch.

Also close and relaunch is necessary to get the red record icon in TV Listings guide to display if I select any Record option other than quick record or record once.

I still have my longstanding issue with the TV Recordings panel showing that new recordings that have completed are still shown as in progress whilst NPVR is running until close and relaunch.

So basically a lot of TV Listings functions do not update in real time for me but the same functions in the default guide or default recording screen do update. I guess you'll want logs for this - which ones?

Also am I the only user who has this problem?

Thanks for the update anyway Alibert; especially the update image feature which I had requested.

Hi,

due some caching, updated images in the media/shows folder may indeed only be seen for newly added images. I'll try to add an invalidation routine to force an update of the cached data.

Regarding the not updated scheduled recording states, the plugin never updates them in "real time", i.e. synchronously when scheduling or updating recordings. Instead, the updates are performed in the background when the scheduled recordings in the database change. From your description, it seems that the plugin doesn't recognize the changes in the database. Can you please try and open the tv listings plugin, schedule a short recording that is about to happen in a few minutes, then, having the tv listings screen still open, wait until the recording has finished (including pre- and post padding time). Then, zip and attach the complete npvr logs folder please, so that I can have a look. Is there anything special in your setup, i.e. database on a network share or something else?

alibert, when you scheduled a recording could you add a couple of fields that are missing to EPGEvent when you schedule the recording? What I really would need to see would be <OriginalAirDate> and <UniqueID> They are very important in North American data but I have seen European data that has a film year in the OrginalAirDate.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi,

okay, I've added some logic that fetches the whole epg event information prior to scheduling a recording for the next release.

OK Alibert please find attached logs generated during recording of The Big Questions [just the last few minutes].

I started the recording by selecting the programme in TV Listings Guide - I left the guide page open the whole time.
Long after the recording had finished I quit the guide and launched TV Recordings.
The programme was in "Pending" [IE not "Ready" and "What's New" like it should have been].
I then checked the Default Recordings screen [ie Sub's] and the programme was in Ready and What's New.
Back to your TV Recordings screen and it was still in Pending.
I quit NPVR and relaunched and then as expected TV Recordings was showing the programme in Ready and What's New.

Finally there is nothing special about my setup - everything on Drive C except the Recordings themselves which are on a separate internal Drive E - I only have one PC and no network devices [NAS etc].

Am I looking in the wrong place for the button to Pick Colors for the genres? I thought it was on the Genre page of the Settings screen for TV Listings, but I'm not seeing it there. I also can't figure out how/where the "update image" thing is - not that I think I'd use it, but I was just looking at trying out the new features to see how they work.

Oh, and this version fixed the problem with my duplicate channels not getting the extra info, thanks. As soon as the info that Martin needs gets added, I'll be good on this one.

do you have a configuration setting that opens the tv recordings plugin automatically when starting npvr? If yes, can you please try to disable that setting and see if then works as expected? Additionally, can you please check if it works when you enable the recordings panel?

thanks for the feedback. Regarding the genre colors, since they are now supported out of the box, they are taken from the default npvr genre color definitions and no longer from the definitions in the tv listings plugin.
