Encrypted Content

I'm seeing this periodically.

Running the Colossus, ffdshow.

This morning, I was watching Live TV, and pop.. black screen, Encrypted Content.

I didn't change the channel, or anything.

When its happened before, I just do a rewind, and it I can watch the program normally. (Even past the point that made it encrypted)

Attached the logs.

Any ideas?

I've seen this with LiveTV on my HDPVRs too. Seems to always happen on LiveTV sporadically, but I've never seen it once on something I've recorded. I'll grab my logs too if I can catch it. This was reported a few versions ago as well by someone else, I never caught it to post my logs.

We've had a few reports of this over last year or so from HDPVR/Colossus users. I've never been able to reproduce it.

It should only happen if there was a transport stream packet delivered from the device with the 'scrambled' bit set.

The odd thing, is when it happens, I can rewind the live tv program, and watch past the part that changed it to encrypted.

Nothing seems to show in the log for what caused it to switch to black screen.

I see it about 3-4 times a week, only on live TV.

I have noticed that some times on live, its playing right on the end of the buffer, and the video and audio starts to chop up and stutter. If I pause for 10 or so seconds, it clears up. Could an incomplete frame be imitating the trigger for encrypted content?

To be honest, I dont know.

I could probably just add some logic to ignore it if it's a HDPVR/Colossus, since these dont produced encrypted content.

This is similar to what I see as well. If it gets time shifted/recorded, it seems not to happen. Bizarre.

I've experienced this on the HDPVR as well. I can't remember what version, but it definitely started happening after an update to npvr. Like you said these devices don't product encrypted content so not sure what would cause that error.

Thanks sub! Got it loaded, here's hoping it goes away.

(and thats why I support NPVR.. 3 problems, 3 days, multiple fixes!)
