Hello, I'm looking for a little help trying to get NPVR 2.4.3 up and going for QAM TV on a Gateway GM5664 32-bit Vista computer (specs on it athttp://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/101500...Rsp2.shtml) I've got an ASUS Combo-210X PCI-e tuner which identifies itself as a ViXS PureTV-U 48B8 tuner. It was also sold as a VistaView Saber DA-1N1-E. I've tried a couple different drivers with no change and have the newest available in it now. although it's from late 2007 it's the last driver update that was done for it that I have been able to find. here's a link to the specs of this card http://support.gateway.com/s/vidcard/asu...Rsp2.shtml

When I try to scan QAM on the Vixs tuner I get nothing on any of the QAM tuning frequencies. The digital tv's in the house don't have any issue seeing these channels straight out of the cable. It scans QAM without issue but never finds any channels. The tvs getting the QAM channels are off of the same splitter and the tuner is the shortest run from there at only about 8 feet. Same cable hasn't had any troubles with the analog in vista media center. I've also tried going straight to the tuner and cutting out the splitter and still get nothing.

ATSC works great, no problem picking up all available channels. I mostly want to get the QAM working though.

I've tried to get this tuner working for QAM in MediaPortal as well and it recognizes the tuner and scans but also finds no signal for QAM there either. Although I don't believe it to be the issue, I am going to swap the current cable with another to make sure there isn't something weird with it.

I have attached the log if anyone would have a little time to take a look. If you need anything else or more information let me know and thank you in advance for your time.

I seem to remember from the old GBPVR days that there was something non-standard about the QAM support on these old VistaView devices (or their drivers). Unfortunately I dont know if there is any fix. There was support for it in GBPVR via a proprietary library provided by VistaView, but I've long since forgotten the details of this library and there is no equivalent in NextPVR.

Thanks for the reply on this. I did find a few threads in the GBPVR archive forums about these tuners but the things they were trying don't seem to apply or are no longer available in the thread. No idea if it's a help but here's a couple threads I found: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...XS-Pure-TV (does the discussed QAM utility exist for npvr?) and here's another http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...w-DA-1N1-I (I don't see any attachments where the ini's could be tried?) http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...lems/page4

From memory that utility was just changing the GBPVR tuning files between regular cable frequencies and HRC. You can choose between those in the device screen.

There was some custom stuff for VistaView QAM tuning in GBPVR though, and there is no equivalent in NextPVR. This stuff was from the early days of QAM when the few available QAM capable devices each used the manufacturer's proprietary scheme. Several years ago Microsoft introduced some standards around it, and now all manufacturers do it the same way. NextPVR only supports QAM tuning using that Microsoft standard. I'm guessing VistaView never updated to the standard scheme, and still only works with their old proprietary method.
