Comskip start/end offset

I have taken up the struggle with comakip again, but I can't figure out how the comskip start and end offset is supposed to do, andcan they have negative values? Is the start offsethow many seconds into a commercial npvr should play before skipping?

Yes, you can specify negative numbers if you want.

When playback starts and it loads the edl times, it adds <ComskipStartOffset> value to the commerical start time, and <ComskipEndOffset> to the commercial end time. ie with <ComskipStartOffset>-1000</<ComskipStartOffset> and <ComskipEndOffset>2000<ComskipEndOffset>, then it'll jump a second before the time mentioned in the edl file, and end up 2 seconds after the end of the commercial.

when completing watching the final segment the video repeats the segment.

Are you watching to the bitter end of the recording or just to the last commercial skip? Is there a piece of show after the last commercial?

I just added "always_keep_last_seconds=120" to my comskip.ini file. That makes sure the last 2 minutes of any recording is marked as show, and therefore eliminates the bounce-back. It also cures the annoying tendency of comskip to cut off the common short "last joke" of many shows that runs right before the credits. Having a fixed 2 minute segment at the end does mean I have to find the final segment manually, but it's better than the alternative.

(that all said, this is still an NPVR bug - if there's a comskip break at the end of the show, with a second or two at the very end marked as "show", somehow the calculated final skip position is beyond the end of the file so instead it jumps back to the beginning of the previous show segment (ie, the same skip position as last time))
